Oh shit!

E just fell off the couch and is now sound asleep in my arms. 630 is a normal bedtime anyway, but do I need to keep and eye on him? If so, what should I watch for?

How did he fall? Did he lose consciousness? Are you able to arouse him?

ETA: I would be concerned if he lost consciousness, if he is difficult to arouse or if he vomits.
And if he fell from higher than three feet

Did he hit his head? Rhys fell and hit his head awhile back. He was standing up at his activity table, fell straight back, and hit/landed on his head. I called the nurse's line and they recommended that I wake him p every few hours just to make sure he rouses easily, his eyes look normal, etc. it was a pain, but better safe than sorry in my book!

My DD fell down an entire flight of stairs and these are the things I was told to look for: 1) did they lose consciousness? 2) did they cry? Crying is a good thing. 3) did they act dizzy? If he didn't lose consciousness and is otherwise acting ok, it's fine to let him sleep. Monitor his breathing for a bit and assuming that is fine, he is probably fine. Serious injuries typically show up quickly.

Holy crap that's brutal. Time for a baby gate!

Things can happen on stairs at any age - even if you're done with baby gates.I fell down the steps at about 7 years old trying to "ski" down them on hula hoops. Hit my head on the bottom of the landing. I got up, walked into the kitchen and collapsed. Parents called 911 and I was ok. Still scary stuff.
