Name Opinions/Two Posts in One Day!

So DH and I have come up with several names we like, but most of them just don't seem to 'fit' this little guy's personality (at least, the way I anticipate his personality). Lately I have become attached to two names, and husband to one. We'd like to give him a somewhat edgy name, but nothing too OUT THERE. Opinions. Because internet strangers know best:

I like:
Pierce. A lot. However, I am having a hard time finding a multi syllabic middle name to balance. Our last name is two syllable and delicate sounding (ends in -ey)

I'm in love with the name Boston. Boss for short. Too much?

HE loves Everest. Yes, as in Mount. It began as a joke (DH is 6'4, 250. I'm 5'1 and 115 prepreg. With 10.5 weeks left, I already look like I'm about to deliver a baby wildebeest any day.)

We also both like Everett.

Opinions/love/hate

    Boston - please don't.

Everest - stick with Everett (which is awesome btw)
    ^ that

Does Pierce Everett work with your last name?

  • It would work, yes. It's a good blend...we may have to see him first. My older two are Tyler (Ty) and Lance. I'd like it to blend.
  • I like Pierce. it's different without being weird.

Boston...well i live in Boston. love this city. don't name your kid after a city. we have a lot of great colleges, he might want to live here one day! i mean, you wouldn't name him New York, would you?

Everest, i say no. it's not edgy, it's a mountain. people are going to ask him for the rest of his life "like the mountain?"

Everett is a solid name, i like it. Ev for short.

  • I like Ever for short, too. Too girly/weird?

Naming a human is so hard.
  • Love Pierce and Everett! I really don't care for the Boston/Boss combo. Everett is definitely my fav.

  • I like Pierce and Everett!  I wouldn't do Boston or Everest though.  I think those are a little too out there.
  • Pierce Everett or Everett Pierce sounds great. I agree with the others and say pass on Boston.

Pierce- NMS but I don't hate it.

    Boston- NO.NO.NO. Please no.
    Everest- Meh.
Everett- NMS but my favorite of all the choices.
    This exactly

But please don't use ever as a nn for Everett.

  • Pierce - I also like it a lot. You've got plenty of time to come up with a middle name, and the baby name board ladies are pretty good at coming up with suggestions based on what you like.

Boston - I'd say your gut instinct that it's too much is spot on. I'll leave it at that.

Everest - Here's my thing with place names. You should either be from there or have a strong connection to the place for it to be legit on your kid. My 2 cents. So I'd veto.

Everett - Great name! What about Pierce Everett?
    This!

I can't get behind a boston and Everest, don't like place names. Pierce and Everett are both really nice names. But I think Pierce and Lance is a bit much in the same sibset. Unless you guys really like poking holes with a spear! So I vote Everett, or Everett Pierce.

Eek. "Ever" as a nickname just sounds like you were trying extra hard to be youneek.

Pierce Everett/Everett Pierce both solid combos.
I agree with PPs on Boston... Reminds me of that idiot dubbed Mr.Boston from whatever trashy dating reality show on VH1 that was.
And I agree with PP that unless you and DH have some sort of deep tie to Mt. Everest, it's just an odd choice.

    Good luck to you!
  • As much as I hate to admit it, these comments have turned me away from Boston and Everest. I'm so impressionable!

Pierce Everett may be a winner.

    Thanks guys!

Haha, I thought this too once I saw the sibling names.  Future children Spike, Gore, (and for the combination of impaling and place-names) Cleave-land.  ;)

I like Everett Pierce.  You get the combination of 2 good names, without it being so blatantly stabby-stabby.

  • I'm biased on this. Our little baby boy will be Everett James England. :-) and my mom has her heart set on calling him Rhett as a nickname. My husband and I adore the name Everett, but it definitely has a unique, old-fashioned feel to it that surprises people when they hear it. :-)

  • I just like Ever. Our girl name was Everleigh. Since I apparently only make males...it obviously won't work.

Ever is a word.  And not even REALLY part of Everett (at least not the way I pronounce it - Ev-rett).  I know a little boy Everett who goes by Ev for short.

I'm in the UK and we tend to use Piers rather than Pierce and that makes me think of Piers Morgan, who makes me want to stab my own eyes out.

    Boston: um please don't

Everest: I like Everett a lot more than this and think it sounds close enough and its not super popular.

I actually pronounce it Ever-ett, tri syllabic. I can see most people pronouncing it Ev-rhett, however. Hooray regional dialects, I suppose.
