Baby Names

bryn

I know it's a masculine name but would you actually use it for a boy today?

Re: bryn

  • I don't like it for either, so for me the answer is no.

Is this for you?  What about Brian?

  • Nope. Sounds like a nn for Brynlee, which is yucky
  • I wouldn't. I actually had Brynn at the top of my list for dd but dh vetoed it. I'm glad though. I still like it but I've found better names since then!

It is actually my husband's name but he started going by his middle name, Hugh, when he went away to college (I've only ever known him as Hugh, but a lot of family members still call him Bryn). He hates his name so much because everyone either assumes he is a girl (on paper) or they call him Brian. So based on his reaction to the name, no, I would never use it on a boy. But I would also never use it in a girl because to me it is a boy's name and just not very feminine sounding.

Brian is just too boring. Im not really considering it just curious. Making bit number 4 is so hard!

  • I didn't know it was a boys name. I like it for a girl, not for a boy.

  • I probably would, but I totally love Welsh names.  I don't love the meaning, though, which detracts from the appeal for me.

That's like Cameron for me...despite its popularity it's always been a favorite but bent nose is a crappy meaning

  • My nephew's name is Brynn and when I first heard the name I didn't think it was feminine at all. Nobody calls him Brian and as far as I know no one has mistaken him for a girl due to his name, either.
