There are SO many names that end in -aiden (or spelling variation) now, I'm so sick of it. I mean, you've got: Aiden Braiden Caden Hayden Jayden Kaiden Oh, and I know someone who recently named their son "Zayden" :-w
Plus all the variation in spelling of the above mentioned names. People think they're being youneek, but really they are just lumping their kid in with every other -aiden.
Eeekkkk that is a good to know...I've never met an Aidan but have read how popular the name is...darn it
I think this depends on the area, as always. My DD is in 2nd grade and she's NEVER had an Aidan (or any form) in her classes, or ANY friends with the name. I don't know a single one. If it's not popular where YOU are and you love it, I would still use it
I'm having a boy and I will be naming him Kaiden. Every other name I came across didnt catch my eyes nor interested. At the end of the day if someone wants to name their baby a particular name let them! they are the one's who using that name 1000 times a day. I totally agree that the Aiden name is overly popular but I'm naming my baby Kaiden because nothing else seems to sound right when I'm referring to my baby.
It's a shame it's so popular because I really did love Aiden. I baby sat for the cutest little boy named this and I had never heard it before. It was probably 15 years ago. Since then he because insanely popular and all breakaway names (Caden, Jayden, etc). It's off our list because of that
My 9 yr old is Aidan. We still love the name in spite of its popularity. Guess what? This is the first year he has had another Aidan in his grade, so it hasn't been a big deal. I'm a big proponent of using the name you love and not caring about popularity. Our daughter's name went from something like 350th to top 20 in the few years since she was born, so you never know!
It's still popular, but in my mind Aidan (this spelling) is a legit, traditional name, not one I'd use since I'm not a bit Irish and it has a very Irish feel to me, but one I like on other people's kids. I am so very tired of the misspellings and -adens with various consonants stuck at the beginning, though.

I feel like there are a lot of 3-6 year olds named Aiden but I haven't heard of it lately for new babies that I know of... But the stats above disprove my theory. I personally really dislike the name. Too popular. Any of the -den names... Not the best.
