Swinging side to side.

Has anyone ever been told swinging the baby side to side in a swing is bad? My grandpa told me to turn LOs swing around today so she swings front to back because side to side is bad for babies. He did not explain why, so wondering if anyone else has heard this!

I feel like if that was legitimate, companies that make baby stuff wouldn't make swings that went side to side...but they do so...

I agree. Old people say the silliest things they don't want us to swing side to side but think it's ok to give the baby solids at 2 weeks old

Probably an old wives tale. I do wish my swing went every direction including diagonal and in circles.

Ha..my mom thought it was bad too. So while LO was a preemie I did the front to back on the swing. Now he likes side to side better. I don't think it's bad lol.

We always do side to side. LO prefers it over front to back... I hope there is no legit issues with it haha

They use the the side to side in the children's hospital in the nursery. That was the first place I ever saw them.

Rocking would be the equivalent of front to back. Unless you have some kind of rocker I've never seen before. And op, no I've never heard that and I wouldn't worry about it.
