Successful VBAC stories please

I'm scared of the risks of a VBAC but don't really want to recover from a RCS with a 18mo old at home. My doc offers VBAC but prefers c section bc of the risks. I'm jut not sure which way to go and would love some motivation/successful stories.

I had a VBAC on 11-27-13! Best choice I ever made. I thought that I would worry about the risks of it while I was in labor but it never crossed my mind. My water broke at 1:30 am, we went to the hospital and she was here by 10:38 am! Now I have a 2 1/2 year old and 3 month old! I highly recommend a VBAC if it's possible!

I am home from the hospital 2 days post successful VBAC at age 38. Had a csection 3.5 years ago when my son was breach. I was nervous but am so glad I did it. I went into labor at 39w4days. I labored for 10 hrs beginning to end. Had an epidural about 7 hrs in when I got to the hospital at 8cm! Some moderate tearing is what I recovering from, but the recovery is do much better! Good luck!

I had a VBAC w a 10.5 lb baby. His brother was 8lb4oz, and I pushed for 4+ hours before having a CS w him. I have no regrets choosing a VBAC, even tho I had a second degree tear w DS2. The recovery was still easier than w my CS.

Have you considered seeing other providers? Having someone who's supportive if your VBAC goes a very long way towards achieving one. A CS and VBAC are equally risky, tho the risks for each are different.

*warning not my story - acted as support at friends vbac* My 31 year old friend went into labor around 8 in the morning. It was early labor so she continued on with her day as planned. My friend and I arrived at their home around 7pm and her contractions were 5 or 7 minutes a part. Around 12 am things started to speed up fast - every 2 minutes. At 12:45am we hopped in the cars and started the 45 min drive to the hospital. There were a lot of discussions again about the risks of vbac vs c section. Mom and dad were signing more acknowledgement that the risks were explained. The doc , in my opinion, was pushing them towards just c section... even telling her some crazy story about a mother in labor that screamed abd crawled her way to the head of the bed when it was time to push, how is that helpful or relevant to her at this point?! After much insanity, the epidural was placed. She got some much needed rest for about 4 hours. The contractions did slow down with the epidural but she continued to progress. She was about 5-6 cm displayed at admission at 8am she was close to 8cm. Around 11am she really began to get uncomfortable with each contraction but the epidural had her confused on her body signals to push. She kept asking if she was doing it right because she couldn't feel the pressure like they were describing. She absolutely was doing it right. Once she moved to her side instead of pushing on her back it got a bit easier for her. Easier being insanely relative to how tired abd hot and intense the pain was.our friend, a d o Lula, was amazing! She coached her, gave her wonderful feedback and advice, kept her motivated through her exhaustion and was a constant source of researched information on vac knowledge in those early hours that the doc kept highlighting the negatives and pushing away the successes as what seemed like "flukes." 12:30pm a handsome new baby boy entered the room and all the pain and exhaustion was gone. She lit up as she held him for the first time. Oh, we all cried. No c section! No NICU stay for baby no 2! Seriously, it will always be one of the greatest, most intimate moments I got to experience with my friends. I feel blessed she allowed me to be by her side.

Here's my short version...
labor started at 4am, water broke in early labor at home, admitted to the hospital at 4 cm at 11am. didn't get to 10 until about 11pm. Had planned a hypnobirth, but that didnt do shit. stadol for the pain to take the edge off and pitocin to ramp up contractions. Pushed for 2 hours and needed an episiotomy to get him out! So worth it, but it was the hardest thing I've ever done! My midwife told me that pushing was so rough for me b/c I have a flat pubic bone, so it made it really hard for baby to move down and around that.
Recovery has been total night and day from my c/s.  So glad I never considered a RCS!

I was scheduled for a RCS on Wednesday. I was told to be at the hospital on Tuesday afternoon to be admitted. On Tuesday morning at 5:34, I woke up with contractions. We went to the hospital at 8:30 am, and by 11:40 am, my baby was born. No induction and no help with progression. I was a 7 when I got to the hospital and barely had time to get the epidural. I was so excited to avoid a c-section because I have a 4 year old at home and did not want to recover with having two children this time.
