Just found out yesterday! Intro

Hello, my name is Meredith and we just found out yesterday we are having twins! I had a MMC in September so I went into the sono at 6w2d just praying for a healthy bean with a heartbeat...twins wasn't even on my radar. The tech found a baby, took all of the necessary measurements and HB, then moved the wand to check my ovaries. Lo and behold, there was baby B! I think my husband almost passed out and I burst out laughing because what else was I supposed to do LOL.

We have an 18 month old daughter named Emily, so we will have 3 under 3 .

I thought our 2nd baby would be easy...we went through it before so what's another? Kidding, kinda sorta This changes everything!

I'm looking forward to learning about multiples, sharing stories and offering support where I can

Congrats! I was also just coming around to thinking that #2 would be "easy" when we found out. DD will be approx 23mo when our identical boys arrive. It's going to be a wild ride!

@jquirke9881, @rachiemoo --- thank you, I will definitely have a lot of questions for you guys! I've been combing through this board and reading a lot of the threads...so informative! One question that keeps entering my mind...do you own a minivan? I am thinking it will be a necessity...DD will be just over 2 and I plan to keep her RF as long as possible.

I'm also not sure what we will do about child care. I currently work PT and DD goes to daycare 3 days a week and have had this arrangement since DD was a year old. I could SAH but I'm not sure I want to. I kind of hated it after 6 months with DD. My plan after #2 was to go back FT but I don't want to work just to pay for daycare or a nanny. What do you guys do?

@whitehousem, I'm glad to have someone to share this experience with! What things keep going through your mind? I keep thinking about vehicle scenarios and child care scenarios. I have been working PT but stayed home for the 1st year with DD. My plan was to go back FT after #2, but I'm not sure what to do now! I don't think I want to SAH (I kind of hated it with DD after 6 months), but I don't want to work just to pay for daycare with 3u3! Have also thought about hiring a nanny but again, not sure if it will be worth it financially. So many curveballs!

@mer313131, yes we bought a mini van a few weeks before the twins were born and I LOVE it.  We bought the 2013 Honda Odyssey and I am so glad I did.  I drove a Toyota Highlander before and it just does not compare.  You can configure the car seats so many ways and its very easy for my older daughter to climb in on her own.

As far as the child care situation, I am home full time because my husband works very long hours (and also travels over night for work).  For the first 2 months I had a lot of family helping me during the day and we had a baby nurse come at night (11pm-7am).  After that, we hired a live in nanny Monday-Friday, she goes home on the weekends.  My older daughter goes to preschool 8:45-12:45 Monday-Friday.  I realize I have a lot more help than some other people, but I honestly still feel like we are very busy here, especially in the mornings and evenings is when it gets crazy.  I completely understand why you don't want to be a SAHM, it gets very tedious and if working makes you happy then you should do it.

Congrats and welcome! Our oldest was 3 when the boys were born. It's been so wonderful! Challenging at times but tons and tons of fun.

I do not have a minivan but I want one!  I have a 3rd row and DD1 sits there.  I turned her FF at 26 months just before the twins came.

My kids all go to daycare.  I was not cut out to be a SAHM so it works for us.

Congrats!  I'm new here as well but *only* have 3 month old twins so I'm still trying to figure it all out.  (And by only I mean I cannot imagine having other kids as well and am in complete awe of those that do.  You all are my inspiration).
