City Mini GT question

I realize there have been a million stroller threads but I was wondering specifically if anyone has actually used a City Mini Gt double? If so, how does it perform on uneven surfaces, such as long walks around the neighborhood, dirt trails and sand? I'm torn between this and the Bob duallie Revolution, but after testing them in the store, the Bob seems quite a bit bulkier and more difficult to see over. Any advice would be great. We're hoping to finally make a decision this week. Thanks!

Re: City Mini GT question

  • I do not have any experience with the City Mini GT double, but I do own both the regular City Mini Double and the Bob Duallie Revolution.  The revolution is very large and heavy, but is awesome for running or walking.  I'm 5'1 and don't have any problems seeing over it or pushing it, but it can be difficult to get in and out of the car.  Also takes of most of my trunk space in my Large SUV, and can be a pain to get in and out.  I also would never take it shopping or in cramped spaces, but as a jogging/walking stroller it handles great and we love it! I also love my regular City Mini for errands or trips in which space may be limited.  I know the GT is bigger and more all-terrain, so Im cant speak on the handling, but I am a huge fan of the baby jogger fold!  Not sure If you are going to be any running, but If you are I would def get the BOB as baby jogger states the GT is not intended for jogging.  Hope that is some help!

  • I don't think they are comparable strollers.  The BOB is great for jogging and hiking/other outdoor activities.  The City Mini is an everyday grocery store, walk around the neighborhood stroller.  I would purchase the one that closest fits your needs.

It's true they're not really comparable, but the GT version of the CM is much better on rough surfaces than the regular CM because it has better tires.  Still not the big air tires like on the BOB, but not the cheaper plastic ones either.

OP - We ended up getting the CM GT double and I can't wait - I think it will be great (and I chose it partly due to the raves from friends of mine who have them).  We didn't need a jogger and I agree that the BOB was bulkier.

  • I have the CM GT double and have taken it on normal sidewalks as well as uneven terrain.  It has performed well on both.  I have not taken it to the beach so can't speak to that.  We don't plan on jogging with it and our main use for it will be on even and semi uneven terrain so it fits our purpose.  I love the stroller so far.

I can't see it being that good on the beach, the tires are still small. We actually ended up buying a cheap jogger with DD solely to bring on the beach. The big tires really are a must.
