I told DH about the banana cookies that someone linked on here. Well, he had a hearing comprehension fail and thought I was talking about pancakes. So, I got out of the shower to find him making L banana pancakes for breakfast. He used two bananas and a 1/4 cup of quick oatmeal and put it in the food processor. They were a hit! They did look like sausage patties, though.
I could see that being really good! I feel like in the US we are so into using our ovens for everything that we forget about the stovetop (an oven isn't a staple in most non-North American houses).
I'm admiring the liquor collection behind Ls head. We have an extensive bar but will need to figure out a better storage method before M gets mobile.
Yeah, I tell people we have such a large liquor collection because we don't drink it that much. DH likes bourbon and scotch and I like cognac and gin so our tastes don't overlap. You should see our beer collection, though.
@Mapleme Haha, we have our garage fridge full of beer. DH makes beer, too, and those are stored in a giant kegerator that is kept off. It's nice to have a good selection when you don't want to run to the store!
Artisanal liquors are pretty new to Washington state, but we have tried some San Juan Island Distillery gin. They had a special seasonal gin, but I preferred their standard one. It tasted great without the extra flavors.
When we went to Belgium I fell in love with jenever, which is an early relative of gin. They have bars dedicated to just jenever. Although, you can't stay long because they are served in shot glasses and are around 40% abv.
I just add chunks of banana to regular pancake batter.
Not everyone can eat regular pancake batter. This is gluten free, dairy free, soy free, and still possibly tasty.
We make pancakes using the gf Bisquick and rice milk and add bananas. I'm not sure if gf Bisquick is soy free. Although to be correct, dh makes the pancakes and the rest of us enjoy eating them.

Cool idea. Tomorrow is pancake day in our house, love me some pancakes. During certain holidays we do potato pancakes savory or sweet and they are super yummy.
@Mapleme I had a friend bring us a bottle of jenever when they were in the Netherlands recently. Otherwise there isn't any here.
MH makes all kinds of beers. You name the variety & he's made one. We like IPAs, stouts, and Belgian ales. He hasn't made any recently, though, due to baby and remodeling obligations. On my insistence, he's made a spruce beer from Sitka spruce branches. We don't like it, but everyone else does. He even tried a few gluten free beers for a friend. We also have a great beer selection in the PNW and I like trying them all!

We make potato pancakes every Christmas morning. DH made them yesterday for breakfast after I got hit with the stomach flu overnight. I just couldn't stomach his onion addition, though.
I stink at making pancakes these days. I can't get the temperature right, so it takes forever for the skillet to get hot enough and then it's too hot and everything burns. I threw out the entire batch last time b/c every one was inedible. I didn't have this problem with our old stove, so I am completely blaming the new stove and told DH I'm not making any more pancakes until I get an electric skillet (which won't happen anytime soon b/c I have nowhere to store it). Ugh. Thanks guys. Now I'm depressed about my pathetic cooking skills AND I'm hungry for pancakes. Craaaap.
Hello?! Did you miss the part about me not having cabinet space for another appliance? Or are you just torturing me with mention of another delectable food that I cannot access at the present moment. Either way, you're mean. >:P

You can store the waffler in your microwave since no self-respecting CDer uses a microwave.

Well after that statement, I vehemently deny even owning a microwave. I have self-respect by the bushels and heaps, thank you. Now you must pardon me. The cows need milking and I still have wheat to thresh for tomorrow's fresh homemade bread.

Is it sad that I feel the need to tell you that if you thresh your wheat today that it won't be ready for bread making for several months?
