Adalyn turned 2! PIP

Hello everyone!  I'm mostly on the FB group now (since it is easier on mobile for me) and I saw a thread with a couple of you who were wondering how Adalyn is doing.  If you can believe it, she turned 2 a couple of weeks ago!  She's dropped her final medical specialist (the cardiologist discharged us last week) and is otherwise doing really well healthwise.  She got ear tubes put in December (since she had had monthly ear infections) and since then, no ear infections.  She did scare the crap out of me in December, right before Christmas, when she got pneumonia and I had to take her to the ER when her temp was 104+.  Luckily, we caught it early and she did not have to be admitted.

She is still receiving Early Intervention once a week, and we also have her in private speech once a week.  She has pretty much closed all of her developmental gaps except for speech.  She started early preschool in December, and every week she is starting to speak more and more.  She definitely has more words now than she did a month ago, and really in the last couple of weeks it has exploded in her actually verbalizing her wants/needs.  She's not where she needs to be yet, but she is definitely making strides.

She is a little daredevil, and whether it's the people at the Y childcare (who watch her while I do a workout) or the people at school or the people we meet at the park, they all describe her as "fearless".  That she is!  Her EI therapist says that she scores off the charts in her gross motor skills.  She is jumping, climbing, running, and is quite the athlete.  She clearly gets this from her father, since I am not what one would consider an athlete.  :)

She is still underweight, and her pedi and I are a little concerned because she has not followed her own curve for a few months.  This probably had to do with the chronic ear infections and then the pneumonia, and the fact that she loves to eat "healthy" snacks that are low in calories.  We've started giving her milk with carnation instant breakfast (instead of pediasure) because pediasure is so expensive and has a bit of a metallic taste.  The pedi suggested we do the carnation instant breakfast packets since it adds about an extra 100 calories per 8 ounces of milk.  Our goal is for her to gain a pound this month.  I think she's gained about 1/2 pound, but since she is so active, she is just constantly burning those calories off!

We got her one of those mini-scooters for her birthday, since she has been obsessed with the ones that the other kids bring to the playground.  She likes it, but hates the fact that I make her wear a helmet with it.  She is finally not quite so bald, and her hair is slowly starting to come in, but definitely not enough yet for a ponytail or anything.  I'm sure that this will happen when I stop looking at her hair length.  :)

She is thriving in school, and thoroughly loves spending time there.  When I go to drop her off, she runs in and immediately starts an activity.  When I go to pick her up, she runs to get her backpack and waits for me at the door.  :)   The teachers also tell me that she is a good listener and follows directions (relatively) well.

We did a little party in her classroom with minicupcakes for her birthday, and the next day we went to Disney.  We also did a little party that following weekend with our family and sang to her (in the requisite 3 languages), but I haven't put those pics on my computer yet.

Some of you thought that I was pregnant, but Adalyn won't be having any siblings.  Last year we tried 2 different FETs (frozen embryo transfers), where 1 was a chemical pregnancy and the other one never implanted.  After much soul searching, and given all the risks and costs that are involved, we have decided that we won't be doing any more infertility treatments in order to have more children.  As time goes on I am definitely more at peace that we will be a family of 3.
