I have an appt with a different attorney this week to get another
opinion. Frankly i dont think the first one really wanted to deal with
the case.I want to file for custody and support but dont want to hurt my LO father either. I do still love him but he hasnt been around to help take care of our LO and has left me to raise her on my own. I do believe were going to be splitting up, because there has been very little communication between us and when we do actually talk its not the most pleasant of conversations. His family is a bunch of bsc folks and i dont want my LO anywhere near them. This being said...have any of you gone through some similar situations and can offer some advice? My feelings toward the situation are both bitter and very hurt. I wish things could have turned out differently but this is the hand that was dealt and i have to find a solution that works best for my daughter.
Re: feeling low..
Hope your meeting with the second lawyer goes better.
Baby daddys they suck dont they?
Hope everything works.out for your dd
Sorry about your situation. But it gets better. I wish I had some advice for you
Attempting a response at home (where DD loooves to push computer keys!).
First, welcome!
Second, DON'T YOU DARE worry about "hurting" your BD. He obviously doesn't care about hurting you and you have a child to raise to the best of your ability. He's responsible, too, whether he wants to be or not. Get what you can from him now. I'm not sure of the general rules in your state but once your support order is in place you can keep running him back to court for more when you finally get pissed at him. In Michigan, you get a review once every 3 years unless there is a circumstance like BD has a new job and is making at least 5-10% (can't remember which) more money. So, screw him! Make him support his kid. Cause I guarantee you, whatever extra money he has after child support/bills will not be going to your kid, it will probably be going towards him romancing some new chick or something.
That being said, sometimes attorneys are just not right for us and you should definitely shop around until you feel like you have one who will be on the same page as you.
And welcome!
