Re: re: called 911 :buttin in:
I'm glad people are taking this CO2 thing seriously.
We once had our CO2 detector go off, and I was really upset with how the fire department handled it. We immediately called 911 and went outside to our apartment balcony to wait for them. We called our downstairs neighbors (we were in a duplex) and they pretty much thought we were insane for warning them/calling the fire department. The FD came, tested our entire house and basement and determined it was a faulty alarm (we had 2 alarms, but the other one hadn't gone off).
What upset me was that I got the impression from the FD that we shouldn't have called them. I don't think CO2 is something to mess around with, so I will STILL call them in the future if one of our alarms goes off.
FYI, for any of you shopping for alarms today, I highly recommend the Kidde nighthawk with digital readout. It plugs into the wall, but has battery backup for when the power goes out. It has a extremely sensitive sensing device and also allows you to hit a button that tells you if it went off while you were home (so it would detect an occasional leak).
Sorry this was so long... CO2 just gets me all hopped up.
Sorry- had to chuckle at this:
Carbon Monoxide is CO. Carbon Dioxide is CO2- what you breathe out, trees take in, etc.
