Pasta-colypse

I am usually good at not buying groceries we don't need, except that I always buy extra pasta when it's on a good sale. Now it is taking over my oh-so-tiny pantry. So, other than just eating it with spaghetti sauce, what's your favorite thing to make with pasta?

  • I make casseroles and homeade mac and cheese. My casseroles are usually a veggie, canned tuna, salmon or chicken, a can of "cream of" something or alfredo sauce, some shredded cheese and bread crumbs on top. I measure nothing!

  • Pioneer Woman has some yummy pasta recipes that I've done. Other suggestions would be

    - As a bed for stew
    - Stroganoff
    - Casseroles (we do a lot of this because it's easy one dish pop in the over cooking)

  • Pasta salad with the veggies I like (cauliflower, baby corn, radishes, carrot). I just use a bottle of Italian dressing for the dressing.

  • Marinade 1 pound of boneless, skinless chicken breasts in (cut the chicken in bite sized pieces first);
    3 tbsp soy sauce
    2tbsp montreal chicken spice 

    Cut an onion and peppers (red or yellow) into long thin stripes and cook the noodles. 

    In a pan on medium heat, cook the chicken until done. Add the onion and peppers and cook until soft. Add 1 cup of sour cream, stir, add the noodles and stir well until heated through. 

    Sometimes I add mushrooms if we have them. I also use greek yogurt instead of Sour Cream. If you do not have chicken spice, steak spice also works, just use less of it as it is spicier.

  • I also have a crazy stock pile of pasta. But spaghetti and meatballs is a one a week thing so I have no worries about using it up.

  • Mac and cheese! Alfredo, soups, casseroles.. I love me some pasta.. Lol
  • I like to blend up chickpeas, olive oil, garlic and Parmesan warm it and serve that on pasta.  My husband hates it though so I don't get to eat it often :( 

    Also @tttwalters this is the second time in the last 24 hours I've seen you giving out a recipe why aren't you coming into the WFD thread more often???

    This would be "actually cooking" for me! Sound so grown up! Most of our family dinners are toddler friendly these days and I'm sure pesto would be a no go right now!

    You can do this over egg noodles or even some other noodle. My DH loves this!

  • Chicken breast cooked in ranch (I pan fry with some olive oil), slice up in strips, cook bacon in a separate pan then add sliced peppers and onions and cook until soft. Break apart bacon into crumbles. Serve all over angel hair pasta. Drizzle the olive oil/ranch "sauce" from the chicken pan to add moisture/flavor to the pasta. --delishhhhhhimage

  • @nursemommy13 it really is good! The pepper/onion I buy is already sliced in a bag and I just add it frozen... suuuper easy. :)

  • On pesto: I used to make my own. What a pain in the ass process to get it how I want. Then, my MIL got us a container of readymade pesto from Costco, and it's just as good as my own. Now that we have a baby we have a pesto dish every week. It works great on pasta, chicken, and fish. The best part is that you can freeze it!
