Backstory: My baby is 15.5 months old. DH is a SAHD. I work outside the home full time. I'm in grad school part time. We live in a small 2 bedroom apartment.
DH really really wants to TTC next month. I am also feeling the baby fever, but a few things are telling me to put it on hold. They are: I'm still carrying an extra 10 lb. from last pregnancy (and I was overweight to begin with). I can't afford new maternity clothes and now that everything has "moved", I'm worried my old clothing won't fit with this extra weight. I just started my current job in November and am worried that getting pregnant so soon after I start will look bad (it's in an "at-will" state). Our apartment seriously isn't big enough for us and a baby (we only moved in because we came from another state and needed something "now" when I got the job). Our lease is up in November and we're planning to move then, but if we TTC next month and are lucky enough to get pregnant soon, I would be 8 or so months pregnant then. I only have 2 classes left for my grad degree. I'm in one now that ends mid-March and the my last class starts at the beginning of April and ends mid-June. Added to these is that DD is still waking up almost every night (teething, growing pains, the dog wakes her up, etc...) and the dog has started to wake me up multiple times as well. I need my sleep now, but will need it even more if I'm pregnant!
In my mind, it makes more sense to start TTC after school is over and when we're closer to moving (and/or already moved). The dog and baby should be sleeping better once they can't hear every breath everyone else takes all night in this tiny apartment. I'll be done with the stress of school. I also will have been at my job longer (and yes, I know they can't technically fire me for being pregnant, but still). It gives me more time to focus on getting rid of this extra weight.
But then on the other hand, if we do get pregnant in March, I would only be pregnant & in school for 4 months. Still, those are some of the worst "morning sickness" months, if I get it again. And I would still be very pregnant for our move. But then again, it might take a while to get pregnant so TTC now might end up getting pregnant on my schedule. I'm kind of assuming that it will happen really quickly, though. Not to be insensitive to anyone having trouble TTC but we got pregnant very quickly last time (stopped pill in Dec, first regular period in Jan, conceived in Feb). But I know that that doesn't always mean an easy second time.
What do you guys think? Would you TTC next month, or would you wait?

If it was me, I'd wait until I graduated and got to a healthy weight.Β I have twenty pounds to lose to be at my healthy, pre-pregnancy weight and I'm trying to lose that by mid May when we are planning on trying for our second.Β As of this moment, I feel like if I don't lose the weight before then, I want to put off ttc until I do.Β We'll see how I feel in May.
Either way, good luck with school and have fun baby making whenever you decide to do it.
