Baby Names

If you could rename yourself...

What would you choose? Or would you keep your own name? Many of the names I like for girls aren't necessarily something I think would fit on me. Usually when I don't want to use my real name for something I call myself Sabrina. I also think I would make a good Esme.

Re: If you could rename yourself...

  • When I was in HS I wanted to be Teresa. When I was a kid I wanted to be called Marissa, since that was almost my name.

I don't think I would change it now. Idk. It would be fun to play around with different names though since there are so many beautiful girl names out there. Maybe Mirielle or Juliet?

  • I don't like my name, but wouldn't ever change it because it's such a part of my identity.

IF I were going to change it, I would probably pick the name Sarah.  That's what I used to name all of my dolls.

  • I've always had a huge name crush on Rebekah. But the truth is my name really really fits me & it's not a popular name.

  • I'm a Nicole. I've always been one of multiple Nicoles wherever I go... school, work, moms group, etc. I HATE that.

Obviously no one would realistically change their name now, but hypothetically speaking I would. I'd want something more unique, like Phoebe or Ingrid or Vera or Gretchen.

Lucy?  Only because DH calls me that already. It started as a joke, but now I answer to it normally when he does use it.

Really though, it's hard to imagine truly being another name.  If I had to pick our of my girl list, I'd choose Julia, I guess.

Heh, my name's Juliet and I wouldn't change it.  I mean, there are girl names I love and am sad I will never get to use, but I can't imagine any of them as my own.

  • I'm a Sarah Elizabeth just like the thousands of others out there. I have no idea what name I would choose but, it would be nice to have something not quite so common.

  • Fiona. I definitely used it as my bar name in my 20s.

I love Fiona so much. My own name fits me well though representing my Scottish/Irishness.

FWIW, your name is Lucy in my head even though I know your actual name :)
Because of DH calling me Lucy and it being my name here, it wouldn't be the most difficult transition, at least not compared to some other random name.

  • I like my name, just not how popular it is within my age group. As a kid, I named like all of my dolls Gabrielle. I just love it.

  • Growing up I liked being an Emily. I was the only one in my grade. Then the late 90s happened. Now I wish my mom had gone more old school or something like Elizabeth because I would totally rock the NN Birdie or Betty
  • I would change it to Seraphina.  It just sounds beautiful and easier to pronounce than my name.
Dee Dee DS Elijah Xin 3/11/05 DD Evangeline Mei 8/24/06
  • I wouldn't change it. I'm Lauren, and not only do I love my name, but it totally fits me.

  • I would keep my name. I really can't imagine myself as anything else.

  • I used to hate my name growing up. Now I couldn't imagine having a different name, but I used to make a lot of screen names with the name Jaden. I liked it before it was popular for a boy haha. So probably that. Or maybe just Jade.

  • My name is Kristin. If I could rename myself it would be Calla. I have this on our list and I am totally in love with it at the moment.

My husband's name is Zadok, and he says he wishes his name was Bartholomew. I know he has this in mind if we have a boy next. We'll see...

  • Oh, wait!  I want to add that maybe I would rename myself Margot.

  • I like my name, but I also really like my mom's name
  • I would be an Eloise or Adelaide.
  • Im another Lauren. I hated my name growing up, i thought it was boring. Now i love it, its a part of my identity.

But if i had to rename myself Id probably go with Honor. I love virtue names and i love the book Beauty, wheres Beauty is just a nick name and her actual name was Honor.

I love my middle name because ive never met another girl with the middle name Alisa(pronounced A-lisa with a hard a) ive had a few people think my parents just mispelled Alyssa.

  • It's too late to change my name now, but if I did I'd probably go by my middle name instead, which is Rose.

My name is Angela. Growing up, my favorite name was Millie. I still love it. I think I'd make a good Genevieve:). Wouldn't change mine though.

  • My name is Nadia and I used to hate it. I'm warming up to it more and more, but as a kid I really didn't like Nadia. I always wanted to be called (the American form of) my middle name, which is Elisabeth. I've always loved that more than Nadia and I guess I still do, but I wouldn't change it.

Also, I was almost named Veronica. I'm a little mad at my mom for not choosing Veronica haha

  • When I was a teenager I wanted to be either Roxanne/Roxy or Lucy.  When I was a kid I wanted to be Sherri which was one of the names my parents considered but didn't use.  Now I don't know what I would change my name to.

  • I'm a Noelle. When I was in elementary/middle school I felt it would have been easier to be a trendier Melissa or Kristen...or a name you could get a souvenir on. But I grew out of that quickly. Really like my name now.

  • April. It's an alright name, but I kid you not, I've been called April by tons of people. People who know my name and people who don't because I guess I look like an April. It's become comical now, how many people call me April. (And it sounds nothing like my real name)

  • I'm Laura and I like my name but I'd probably name myself Katherine (Kate). I just love that name.
