VBAC

Hi, I am new to this board.

Hi, I am a FTM may 2013 (the may 2013 mom board is were I have been mostly since I just joined recently) My story is I was Diagnosed with Preeclampsia 2 weeks before my due date they tried to induce me but I never dilated and the magnesium for the Pre-E made the contractions horrible early on and I had one that lasted 8 minutes. I  was given the choice to try induction again or C-section and since I opted for the C-section since there was no guarantee that inducing me a second time would work. Now my DH and I have been talking about trying for number 2 in a year or so and I worry about the whole C-section or VBAC what would be best for me. I have read that VBAC are difficult because of uterine tears and it is harder to push since those muscles have been cut. I was also leaning towards a second C-section because I only plan on having two children and was thinking about asking the doctor if they can do tubal's too. Has anyone ever asked or had that done during a C-section?

Re: Hi, I am new to this board.

  • My sister had to have c-sections with all of here pregnancy and chose to have her tubes tided after the last delivery and didn't have to plan another surgery.  For me I had to have a c-section to deliver the second twin that didn't want to come out (transverse). I am choosing to try for a vbac since I was able to deliver my first one and one of the twins without issue. Best thing to do is to talk with your doctor and look at what is the best option for you. Also need to ask if they can even preform vbac's some hospitals do not allow them, so that might change what you want to do. Always do whats best for yourself and family life style. GL
