Re: 1st Trimester Check In ... a bit early

  • Had my first OB appointment on Monday. Had a little issue finding thr HB on the doppler but she did. What a relief! No appointment until next month. Seems so odd to be a normal pregnant person. Still can't wrap my head around it!

QOTW: We have 2 dogs and 2 cats so I'm a little worried. I think the cats will just keep to themselves but our pups are our babies and they are so spoiled. I know they will feel like their world was just turned upside down!

  • My last post in first tri! I've been feeling pretty good this week - no more nausea and my energy is back. I've started going to prenatal yoga and doing these prenatal workouts on youtube. Pretty low impact but it's something! I posted earlier our Mat21 results were normal and no y chromosome detected (although I guess there is some debate about the accuracy of this test in twin pregnancies so we shall see!). But we had our NT today and it went great - results were normal and it was great to see both babies in detail for a little extra time. We could see their little faces and their hands! They were moving! It's still sinking in.

QOTW: We have one dog (see below) and two cats. Our dog is pretty much the center of our universe. I think she will be OK though, as long as DH and I work together to make sure she gets the exercise she needs. She's been very good with our friend's babies and I think she will enjoy being part of all the action. Who knows about the cats - they are very unpredictable. One cat however who is always obsessed with DH has been obsessed with me since I've been pregnant. Weird!
    Me - 35. DH - 40. TTC #1 since 9/2010.
    IUI #1-2 BFN
    IUI #3 BFP = C/P
    IUI #4-6 BFNs

    2 blastocysts transferred 12/14/13
    Beta at 9dp5dt = 285; Beta at 12dp5dt = 925
    It's twins! EDD 9/2/14

  • I've just had a week & a half of pretending my pregnancy is normal. (Relief.) Looking forward to my 8wk U/S next week, hoping for a heartbeat. That's a big milestone for us, since my last 8wk U/S was when we found no heartbeat in my first pregnancy. Hoping for the best!

    QOTW: No pets.

I'm 12 weeks, which is just CRAZY to me (well, 12w1d, but who's counting?).  After we got the CVS all-clear results, we told the rest of our family - my siblings, our aunts and uncles and cousins and such.  So that was fun.  I'm being laid off next week - my whole department is, we found out last July and they took forever to do anything about a transition so they couldn't give us an end-date for ages...so it works out nicely that my job ends at the same time as my first trimester.  We are having a party (my "liberation celebration") that weekend, and that's when we will tell all of our friends.

QOTW: Nope, no pets here.  I am allergic to pretty much anything with fur.  When I was a kid, I used to tell people that we didn't need a pet because we had my younger brother... ;)

  • Hey ladies! We are still trucking along. We have another ultrasound on Monday with SG, and I scheduled my first apt with my OB on Wednesday. It will definitely be a fun filled week! Nothing new to report except some non pregnancy related back problems :(

QOTW: We have 2 lab mixes that are really good with kids. They are pretty spoiled, so I'm expecting them to be a little jealous of the babies once they take up our attention.

I would like to be added!!

I am 7 weeks with two babies with EDD of October 10. I go back this coming Wednesday to check growth... I'm really hoping both beans have decided to stick around for good. :) I am nauseated 24/7.. And I'm a high school teacher. So it's been tough.

As for pets- I have three cats and one dog. I think they will ignore any kiddos, but I honestly have no idea!

So, I skipped last week's check-in because I thought there was no chance for me, so hopefully it isn't an issue if I jump back in.

Please update me to 2 beans :x

I am measuring 6 w1d, so a week behind, but the babies look good. I don't have another u/s for 3 weeks (March 12th). Torture. And thank the Lord for zofran!

QOTW: Do you have any animals? Have you thought about how they will react when you have your baby or babies?

My SN and siggy may give it away, but I have dogs, 3 big guys I love will all my heart - 2 Weimaraners and 1 Dalmatian. My DH and I have always been a foster home for Weimaraners (and Labs at one point) but with the arrival of our son, we thought it safest for him to not foster again until he gets older. I am curious to see how this is going to go with the possibility of 2 new additions, but they and my DS all adjusted very well to each other. Our main issue is food, they are always stealing food from him, it is really, really annoying. We have had a couple of grumbles out of the dogs, especially in the early days when all he wanted to do was crawl all over them, but now that he walks around with yummy food, they love him!

  • Right now, I am 7w2d, based on our last ultrasound last Friday. We are going in this afternoon, for our last ultrasound till 12 weeks (which is the first time my OB will do an ultrasound). I'm really thankful that our RE is so awesome, and is letting us do one more ultrasound. It is such a relief to see the little peanut grow and see it's heartbeat.
No real symptoms, boobs have grown a cup size, bloating making me look pregnant, a need to eat every couple of hours and of course peeing. I'd take those symptoms any day!

QOTW: Do you have any animals? Have you thought about how they will react when you have your baby or babies?
We do, we have a one year old Lab/Shepherd mix, her name is Harley. She is the best thing that has happened to us. I was never a dog person until we rescued her. She is the greatest dog. We have exposed her to a one year old and a 3 year old, tried to get her exposed to babies so when ours comes she doesn't freak out. She won't, she is a very good dog and protector. We have no concerns with how she will react.

  • Hi ladies! 12w2d here. Nuts! We had our MAT21 and NT scan on Wednesday. The u/s tech told us everything looks great, and that the space behind baby's neck was "nice and thin, like we like to see." So that's reassuring. DH keeps reminding me the testing is just a formality. *breathe* Baby was jumping around like crazy, which was super cool to see. I'm no longer able to suck in the bloat, so an actual bump could be showing up soon!

QOTW: No pets here, and probably none in the future. Not sure. We love dogs, but have always talked about baby OR dog...having both seems sort of overwhelming.

Began TTC #1 in Sept. 2010. I was 33, DH was 36.. Dx with DOR and slight MFI (8/4/11).

  • Morning everyone!
I'm 6w3d today. First u/s isn't for another week; DH and I have let ourselves get excited and I'm just now realizing its very early and next weeks u/s will be a big milestone. I'm praying my next update will be a good one and we'll know if we have one or two beans on board.
DH left for a bachelor party in the DR yesterday so I've got to go into the RE for my PIO shots.
QOTW: our firstborn is a 3 yr old red lab (see my profile pic). He's our world and are excited to give him a little one to play with. Hi Everyone! NT scan is Monday and I know the next two days are going to creep by- I can't wait! Broke the news to everyone at work (all 10 of us) because we're being acquired by a larger company and I felt everyone needed to know I'd be out all of September- it's a good move for the owners and maybe me. I received a promotion last week because my direct boss is leaving so another coworker and I will be splitting her duties (and her paycheck- yay!)-hopefully that promotion will stick through the transition. We will have to prove our worth to the new owners, though, and if that doesn't happen or the decision is made for any reason to close our department I may not have a place in the company for too long. On the bright side we will be covered by FMLA once acquired so I will have some job security for this year and the birth. Even with all these changes I feel great, no more nausea and just a touch of fatigue. My mom is coming this weekend and we'll do some baby gear shopping which has me super excited!

QOTW: We have a menagerie- 2 dogs, 3 cats, and many many fish. The cats will be fine although one of them is very needy and may be frustrated by the lack of attention. I'm not worried about his behavior, just worried he'll feel forgotten. Dogs are a different story- Sway is 13 and deaf/going blind. She has doggy dementia so she barks and whines a lot for no reason, has trouble sleeping, and seems generally confused about half the time. I'm just hoping she makes it to the end of the year. Her brother Kitt is younger and still has all his faculties- he's a sweetheart though is a licker and has been known to paw at people occasionally so we'll be working on trying to break those habits for the next 6 months.

  • @GettinCrafty: I just put in "pregnancy workout" to youtube and saw what came up. I've done this one a few times: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pH6IrhTjdR0 and enjoyed it. Also if you google "prenatal yoga by week" there is a good series of yoga videos that are made for each week of pregnancy. I also found a local prenatal yoga class - that's been great for meeting people and also the same place has a bunch of other classes on labor, breastfeeding, etc. Hope that helps!

  • Well I think this is my last 1st Tri check in too! I've got my NT scan on Monday, almost as late as  possible since I'll be 13w2d! DH didn't see the need to test but I do. I'd rather have the information and get prepared financially if we need to for whatever might come up.  My next appointment isn't until next month and without regular appointments I'm getting IF brain and wondering if things are still OK. We've told most all of our friends and family and this point and they were all happy. No weird or uncomfortable questions so far.
QOTW: 1 dog. He's my first dog ever and I love him to death, but he is very possessive of his toys and enjoys completely destroying any soft/stuffed animal type toys. So my biggest worry is that he's going to think all the baby toys are for him!  He's been around toddlers & small kids so I think he'll do OK. Not sure how he'll feel getting attention taken away from him, but I've read some things that say to get a baby doll and carry it around so he knows he can't jump on it. I might try that, especially if I can find one that cries too.
Me:41  DH: 46 high count but poor motility & morphology

    ~All Welcome~
  • hey ladies!!! congrats and welcome to all the new 1st tri girls and congrats to the girls headed over to 2nd tri!!!

Been a good week for me so far, im 12w2d today! so beyond excited that im inching closer out of this milestone. i had a evaluation appt with the OB nurses on tuesday to go over medical history and do some bloodwork.

so i love love love the 2 girls that work with my OB, the one that was there the majority of the appt was trying to get the babies on the doppler and we were getting worried when she only heard one "for sure HB" and the other sounded a little faded but pretty much the same as the first at 165bpm, so she thought she was still just picking up the first ones hb. she paused for a second and said "ok, i cant let you leave hear until we all get piece of mind that both LO's are ok, let me check if my managers gone and ill sneak u into the u/s room!" .... it was awesome, mind you we did have some hiccups because shes just a medical assistant and isnt trained to use u/s machine lol. but we finally got to see them both and they were snuggled up right next to each other <3 thats why it was so hard to differentiate between the 2 hb

QOTW: I've had 2 cats in the past.. 1 died from a heart defect 4 years ago, and the other we had to give up for stupid in-law related reasons. ugh. anyway. DH and I are moving into our own home soon and the first thing on our list is a cat. i love pets and want our kids to grow up around them so they're not scared. i know its hit or miss with some cats as to whether or not they'll be ok around LO's but hopefully we wont have any issues.

  • Hi Ladies!

I am 11 weeks 4 days today. We had what was supposed to be our last RE appt on Monday, but I've developed an sch, so they are bringing my in for another u/s on Wednesday. Depending on how things go, that will either be my last appt or they will submit something to my insurance for further monitoring of the sch. I'm trying not to worry too much. Either way, I will continue to go there for bloodwork until I'm completely weaned off PIO and suppositories.

Got to see my LO and was amazed at how much he/she grew and developed in 10 days. Saw fingers! And baby's brain and spine. Baby was sleeping and not moving around much, but I pressed on my stomach and then he/she wouldn't stop moving! It was amazing to see!

Have my first appointment with my OB on Monday, so next week is a busy one for me. Anxious to get some testing done and move on to 2nd tri!

  • I'm 8w2d and @hadams85 we could be twins with our symptoms lol. My belly just started swelling as of Friday but my boobs grew a whole cup as of 2 weeks ago!! I look super pregnant at the end of the day lol QOTQ: we have a 13 yr old Maltese and a 2 year old pit mix. The Maltese has been raised around my nieces (16,4, and 1 1/2 years) and our little pitty has as well since he's come in to our lives at 7 months old. Both dogs love kids/babies and between my nieces and our friends' kids, I have zero worries about our fur babies :)

Me:Hypothyroid DH: Type II diabetic. Together since 03/2007, Married 10/2011, D/C bc 10/2011. TTC: 11/2011. Charted BBT and CV along with OPK 10/2011-02/2012 Baseline labs 02/2012 WNL, SA 03/2012: botched sample by lab - destroyed hubby's confidence. 04/2012 Clomid 05/2012 Clomid 06/2012 Clomid 07/2012 Clomid and Ovidrel 08/2012 Ovidrel (I never knew that I was supposed to be monitored while on meds...I never was. I asked for u/s and other tests to see why we weren't getting pregnant, doc just kept giving me meds and telling me to go to his church for a "laying of hands") Stopped all monitoring/testing/temps, etc, Sex became a chore and we started to grow apart. At 12 mos I decided to look for another doc. 02/2013 consult with new doc....3 days later testing began...u/s, all good, HSG: all good, labs: all good, ovulating, etc. Started on Pregnitude. 04/2013 failed attempt for SA, 05/2013 failed attempt SA. 12/2013 SA: 3% morph, abnormal functionality. DH started Pycnogenol. RE consult 01/15/2014.

  • Hi everyone- I am 12 weeks exactly today. I had my blood drawn for Harmony last Monday and am anxiously awaiting the results. We have our NT scan this Tuesday- I'm nervous! I'm still very nauseous much of the time- is anyone else having difficulties with work? My biggest issue is that I have to bill hours, so it's not just a matter of showing up and sticking it out through the day. It's been hard to even do that much, but I have. My billables are awful though, and I know they're not happy with me at all. They do know about the pregnancy but I feel like their patience with me has worn thin already because I maxed out my sick time last year doing our treatments. Ugh. I do care about work, but it's hard for me to care as much as I used to. A healthy baby is really the thing that matters most to me right now! QOTW: we have a rescue dog adopted from our county animal shelter. As near as we can tell, she's a Tibetan mix of some kind. She's a very sweet girl and super empathetic- if one of us is upset she climbs in our lap (even though she really doesn't fit). I think all will be well with the baby because she has always been very gentle with children and I think anything that she knows is important to us will also be important to her.

    *Ticker/Siggy Warning*

Welcome, and congrats! Just chiming in to share my experience in case it brings added piece of mind. I had an SCH also really early on, maybe at 5 weeks. Over the next week I had two small bleeding incidents (once light pink and thin; once darker red/brown), and by the next u/s they said it had resolved itself. I read similar experiences from lots of others, and knew it'd probably be just fine, but definitely had several mini freakouts before that next u/s. IF brain is the worst!
