LO has his 2 month shots tomorrow and I am just wondering how many people gave Tylenol to their LO's before the vaccines? How far before the appointment did you give it?
Wait and see if they need it. I broke out DS's shots across two visits. After the first set he was fine, he just got sleepy. The 2nd set he got fussy and we gave him tylenol.

They don't want you giving them Tylenol before they take their temperature. So if you do it before shots, do it after they've taken LO's temp. I typically wait til I think they need the Tylenol, like if they are fussy later that day ot=r spike a temp.
Don't need to give Tylenol before and it's actually not recommended anymore. My LO had her shots today and she cried for a few seconds and it was done. She's been sleeping and only woke up to eat. DD1 did this when she was a baby, too. IF they get a high fever or seem super irritable later after the shots, go ahead and give some Tylenol but not before.

I didn't give dd any before her shots but after her pedi gave her the shots she said that if she ran a fever that I could give her Tylenol. Dd did just fine afterwards no Tylenol was needed . I guess it's just a wait & see how your lo responds to the shots
Only after the shots. You'll be able to tell if they get a fever for sure and most likely will be able to tell if they are in pain (fussy, over tired, etc). I gave my LO Tylenol near bed time since she had a slight fever and seemed extra irritable (I took it to mean she was in pain).
I bought some afterwards in case she needed it but didn't. She was just sleepy and clingy but not fussy. I did give her Tylenol once yesterday (24 hours after the shots) and once today but that was for fussiness I assume came from her tongue tie correction.
Ok thanks ladies!! I didn't really want to give Tylenol because I don't want to give him medication that isn't 'needed', but then I kept hearing that I SHOULD give it. I just wanted to know what you guys were doing. I think I will just wait and see how he does. Blah it's so hard knowing what the right thing to do is.

I think thats the right thing to do...why would you give it if he may not even need it at all you know?
You shouldn't give Tylenol before the shots, in fact your pedi probably won't give LO shots if you have. I did give C Tylenol as soon as we got home because I didn't want to wait till he was in pain but it is really up to you.
My mom and MIL kept telling me to give Tylenol before, but I didn't see the point in giving it if it wasn't necessary. She was perfectly fine without it. She only cried for a minute.
Don't mean to thread hijack, but instead of tylenol did anyone use emla cream prior to the shots? My doc said it's safe but he's not sure how effective it is.
We had out shots today. I cried right along with Ariella :-( but to answer your question, I didn't even think of giving it to her before the appointment and was instructed to give it to her only if she spikes a fever...
