I didn't get a chance to read very many birth stories but if you had a hypnobirth I am curious to hear about your experience. How did everything go? Was it like you expected?
so hypnobirth didn't work for me....I listened to the cds and did my affirmations but I basically lost my sh*& once my real labor pains began. One of the affirmations I said over and over to myself as part of they hypobirth thing was " I will have a uncomplicated delivery," and when all was said and done I had a complicated delivery. I know it works for some people but it didn't for me. I wouldn't want to dissuade you from doing it, but maybe if you do it, have a back-up plan.
I took hypnobirthing classes before birth and I was so positive about the whole thing. But I ended up with an emergency C-section. I gave up on med-free birth after 5 hours of horrible back pain (LO was sunny-side up). My labor lasted 24 hours and I even pushed for an hour and a half with no success. So, this method didn't work for me. But my friend had a wonderful birth experience with hypnobirthing. You never know.
I read hypnobabies and listened to some of the cds, it helped me know what things to try to stay as relaxed as I could and I did maintain my breathing and relaxed mindset for most of my 12 hour labor. What was really helpful was my labor nurse, she was awesome! She respected my birth plan and talked me through some contractions where my body was reflexively pushing. I think we may go the doula route next time. We went med/intervention free.
