Wednesday Randoms

What's going on? What's on your mind?

I'm hiding in our half bath from MB. That's acceptable mother behavior, right? We're not playing hide and seek, I just need a break for a minute. And it's only 8 am.

  • My co-worker is on my last nerve.  She's dropped to PT because she has school (I do too, and a full-time job, and two kids, but whatever), so I am left to pick up the slack for everything she isn't doing.  She doesn't come to work if it snows, or it might snow because ZOMG I have such a long commute and it's so hard.

She came in late yesterday because of the snow and missed her morning appointments with her clients.  This morning she texted me because she's sick and will be in late again, so she will miss her appointments again.  I am not even calling the clients.  I feel bad that they will make the trip for nothing, but the only way someone is going to do something about it is if the clients start complaining, so I'm going to let it happen.  Nope, it's not client-centered and makes me a bad team-player.  Whatever, I don't care, I'm tired of it.

  • Penny stood on my bathroom scale and weighed herself last night. I'm not sure what I should be reading in to that.

  • I'm in bed pretty much all day.  I went to the ER Monday with excruciating neck pain and was diagnosed with spasmodic torticollis.  So now I'm on some good pain meds and muscle relaxers.  Mornings are the worst though.  I count my blessings that my dad is here to help because I'm not supposed to do anything for the next week, no picking up LO, no driving, pretty much just rest.

I work with a woman who pulls shit like this. She has a child (ERMERGERHD) and her parents take care of her DD during the week. But they only watch her for part of the day so she has to leave by 2 and then "works from home."  If her DD has a runny nose she stays home. If they forecast snow/sleet she stays home.

We don't have a work from home policy here so technically she shouldn't even be doing it. Most manager will approve it on rare occasions for a day or two but she has been doing it since last summer.   She is a higher level person in our organization and it pisses me off that she is being paid as a full-time employee but is only really working part-time.
  • @misspunky I'm sorry, that does not sound fun at all.  I hope you feel better.

  • Also, I have a UO that I thought of the other day, and I still remember it today, but I'm just sure I won't remember it tomorrow.  I really want to save it though, because I never have one.
  • Sean was up at 4:30 for some reason. We snuggled on the couch a bit and he fell back asleep. I was sad thinking it'll probably be the last time I snuggle my babies in the middle of the night on this couch (our new one comes in a couple days). We got it right befor Ethan was born, so I did lots of late night snuggles with babies. I don't understand why I get so attached to things. I'm not going to cry over it or anything, though. I promise.

I just saw that BRU has something just like the Nap Nanny that they developed (I think, it's exclusive to them). It makes me mad. We love our Nap Nanny and have recommended it to so many people. Nap Nanny had to close because some dumbass parents weren't using the thing he right way, and kids died. I don't know why this bothers me. It shouldn't. Lots of people make similar products.

    Do it now!
I'm going to write it on a post it and stick it in my desk drawer so I will remember it tomorrow.  It's not great, or juicy or anything, but I can never think of anything to contribute, so I'm excited to actually have something, even if it's lame.

I did this yesterday after school. 30 minutes after I had picked her up. Sometimes, you just need a breather!

  • This morning as I was running out the door with the girls and bags I reached into my coat pocket for my keys and I found lindt chocolates in there!

DH is so sweet. I didn't get chocolates for VD but I think it is even better on a whim and that he bought them on sale for me.

    That is awesome!!!

  • DS decided that last night while we were about to read books that he would throw himself backward into my face. He hit my front tooth. I freaked out, set him down and ran to the mirror to make sure my tooth was still there. It hurt that bad. Meanwhile he's on the floor crying because I'm sure his head hurt.

Last night was not a good night for him. He ended up crying himself to sleep. Not from the tooth hitting his head though. He has been terrible to get to bed for about the last week and we can't move his bedtime up because he's exhausted. Is it a wonder week time or something? He's been napping 3 hours a day too, when normally it's 2. I'm rambling...

  • I just bought Hannah 2 pairs of Tom's.  I also bought her a pair the last time they were on zulily, anticipating her feet would actually grow.  At this rate, the first pair won't fit her until she's 3. Hannah probably has too many shoes.

My coworker is so goddamn inefficient.  Looking at her pisses me off at this point.  She also goes out of her way to tell everyone how busy she is.  I really cannot figure out what she is busy with.

It was 28 degrees here this morning, I contemplated wearing a short-sleeved shirt.  It felt damn near tropical.

H is out of town for work, and decided to go to Ikea last night to check out their cabinets for the new house.  He spent over 2 hours there.  I am insanely jealous.

  • My parents are coming into town tomorrow afternoon to watch Kate while DH and I go to a concert in Chicago. I'm working from home Friday and we (DH, Kate, and my folks) are going back downtown Chicago on Saturday to visit my cousin and their new baby.

I'm excited because my mom is bringing food and will help take care of Kate (i.e. get up with her in the morning!!!!), but I'm already exhausted at the prospect of all the back and forth we'll have to do.

@Pokedot - We're with you on the crappy sleep! DS's sleep has been awful for the last two weeks. He'll sleep fine one night then up all night the next. We have to let him cry it out or he won't go back to sleep. Sucks big time!!

  • I don't like my outfit today and I forgot some of my pumping supplies, so I won't be able to pump.  Blargh.  Thankfully I only pump once a day, so it won't be too bad.

  • I'm also buying a pair of TOMS from Zulily today, thanks @Willy_gert so ladies help me pick which ones! I want a pair for summer that kind of go with everything.

Bottom left, the navy and white. I looked at these, too, but settled for baby sized TOMS instead (less guilt)
  • It was 46 outside yesterday and I saw 4 morons wearing shorts when I was stuck at yet another godforsaken train on my way home.

    Also, I hate trains.

  • @pokedot - I love the aqua wedges! Friggin adorable.
  • Keagan and Colby both slept like crap after getting shots yesterday. Keagan is complaining that his ear hurts. He just had his first ear infection less than a month ago. I'm wondering if the infection didn't clear? He took all the antibiotics. I feel like we live at the doctors. All the nurses know us on a first name basis. I have him laying on a heating pad right now but I need to make a decision soon if I'm going to try yo bring him in today.

  • Gah. I want to buy things so bad. I put the glitter gold shoes for Kate and a pair of flats for me in the cart and then closed the window 3 times.

I need to be a good girl and save money so we can sell our house, buy nice, new furniture and save for the new baby...

    Le sigh.

I ended up ordering the navy. More practical although the aqua came in a very close second. DS got 2 pairs, go figure!

    Two more things:

    1) The dress I bought from Boden for Kate for a wedding this summer (July) totally didn't work. Now I'm at a lose for what to dress her in. Anyone want to help me shop? No sparkle, shiny fabric, or tulle please :)

    2) I'm also at a lose for what I'm supposed to wear for the wedding and being 31 weeks pregnant. I'm thinking about just dropping a shit ton of cash for a Isabella Oliver dress that I can wear post pregnancy too.

  • I need recommendations for designer maternity jeans.  I'm willing to spend the money for some awesome ones.  My leggings are starting to give me a FUPA.

I bought a pair from Motherhood last pregnancy, and they were fugly.  I bought a pair on clearance from GAP this time around, but they fit kind of odd.

Bonus points if they are straight leg that can be rolled up and converted to crops.  I feel like @stasi and @hmp1 will have some good input. :)

  • @BPer - my girlfriend let me borrow a pair of her Paige maternity jeans and I love them. They ride under your bump, so thats a little different than having a panel of some sort, but it prevents that weird pouch thing from happening around your crotch like a lot of maternity jeans get...

Then waist band looks normal, but there are hidden extenders on the inside of the waistband that allow you to make them tighter to more loose depending on your belly (or pp belly).

Of course, I can't find them anywhere online...

  • I feel like a shit mom.  Lo is sick. She's had a freaking cough/cold for like a month.  Everytime I say "ok. fine we'll bring her to the doctor tomorrow" she gets better again.  It's just normal winter crap. (I've been sick for like a month too off and on.)  Last night I freaked out because she sounded all wheezy. I wound up sleeping on the La-Z-Boy with her last night so she could be upright, and she slept fine.  She csounded fine this morning, so I sent her to daycare.

But I still feel like crap for being at work instead of at home with her.
Hannah has had a similar thing going on.  Just when I convince myself it might be a sinus infection, and not a cold, she seems a lot better, so I don't take her.  A week later, she has crap coming out of her nose again.  I'm over winter, and it's sickness.

It's this stupid winter. It's never ending, we're all cooped up and spreading germs back to one another. Don't feel bad. We've been the same way.

I can't bring myself to cut what little hair she has.

I buy the tiny clear ones that get lost the second you drop them on the ground (or your toddler opens up the container of "pones" as she calls them and spills them in the toilet).

Kate's hair is totally down in her eyes and almost touches her nose when it's not up in a ponytail. I don't care. I'm not giving up until it gets long  enough for her to tuck behind her ear. She has a strong side part like her dad so bangs just aren't going to make it...

We use the same ones. I also have some terrycloth ones that we got at Claire's, but she can pull them out very fast.
