Introducing fish?

Has anyone introduced fish to LO yet? I normally let Ellie have a small bit of what I'm eating. For lunch today I'm having tilapia. I'm finding conflicting things on google. What do you ladies think?

We are doing everything except honey (per our pedi's recommendation) so I say go for it. I would probably only give a little bite at first.

  • Our pedi hasn't really said one way or the other. I think I'll try to give her a bite and see how she likes it.

Eta: she'll have fresh mango for the first time too!

  • Go for it!  Everything is a go except for honey before 1 year old!

I was really confused by the post title--I'm such a moron.  I thought this was about how to introduce LO to your pet fish (like, the same level of concern people usually have when preparing dog/cat for baby).

    I thought this too.

  • Lol @kacelle I actually did get her a fish tank a few weeks ago! She loves looking at it. And she's only tried to eat the fish food once.

  • I have given him a little baked haddock when we were out for lunch. He loved it. I kind of give him everything I'm eating though to see if it's a go. Actually flakes of fish seems to be the only solid type finger food he has liked. That and shredded cheese and Cheerios. He won't lift a finger to try and eat fruit or veggies himself, just protein and carbs. What a boy.

  • We were in Florida this weekend and Nancy LOVED scallops and crab.  Not so much the shrimp.  My pedi is of the everything is fine except honey.  So I follow that.

My LO loves mango.  It makes him super hyper though--the giggles, kicking the little legs wildly  around, etc.  Has this happened to anyone else?

I've given her tastes of canned tuna, and pieces of salmon. I think its fine.

I'm definitely holding off on peanut butter since my nephew has an allergy to it.

She had her first bites of scrambled eggs yesterday.

And ditto on the honey. DO NOT give your baby honey until they're at least a year old. It can cause botulism. My cousins child got this when he was an infant, and he almost became deaf from how ill he was.

I've given her tilapia and pollock. She loves it, which is nice, because she hates chicken. It flakes into nice soft pieces that are easy for her to manage, and both of those fish are not bony filets.

Ooops, just realized this isn't the May bmb. Hi June ladies!
