    :( That is a rough day! Hate crunchy jeans myself... do you have a local friend or relative with a dryer you could borrow for an hour? Or a someone who lives in an apt. building, or a laundromatt in the area? Might be worth asking around (even if they are already dry, a short run can help soften the denim)

    Am impressed that your DH can diagnois the dryer!
