slow declining hcg anyone?

Some of you may already know that I have been waiting for my hcg level to decline since the end of December. I have posted frustration in LIW, CT and TP. My last draw a week ago was at 62. Its been almost 60 day and it started around 3000. I am just looking for any ladies who have had the same issue of slow declining hcg. I am headed for crazy town because it is frustrating me so much! It would help to know that some other ladies have waited this long for it to go to 0. All my IRL friends who have suffered mc have not had this issue. My mw said she has seen it but I need some ladies to help prove that to me! Please help me step back from the ledge of jumping into crazy town!

Hi @blue2mango - I am sorry you are going through this.  My hcg seemed to take forever for it to drop back to less than 5.  It was a full 8 weeks after my loss, and I had stalled out at 20 for several draws.  From December to February does seem like a long time - but maybe you just need a few more weeks. Although 65 seems high to me, but I am not a medical professional.  Are they sure you passed everything in december and that there isn't some retained tissue that could be keeping your levels elevated? Maybe ask for a trans-vaginal u/s just to make sure everything is clear?

My levels took from over 30,000 on dec 27 (day we learned of mmc) until last Tues. I got 1.4. It stahled in late Jan, early Feb where ten days apart I got 8.9 then 8.8. I was like "how the eff could it only go down point one in ten frickin days?!?!" but then it finally went to the 1.4.

But I agree 60s sounds high. Did you have a post op or after mc transvag US?

I talked with my mw & she feels since it is still going down and not stagnant or going up it is okay. It went from 3000 to 1500 to 700 to 200 to 98 to 62. I was planning to ask about an us if my next draw didn't drop much. They (the nurse) did tell me at first to wait 3 weeks since my last one a week ago but after talking to my mw she wants me to come every week just to be sure of no retained tissue. The first couple draws were every week, then 2 weeks then 11 days & this will be 9 days when I go back on Wed. Thank you for sharing your stories, it helps to know others have had the same thing.

@qfrump thanks for sharing! And I thought 7 weeks was long. Growth stopped just after 6 weeks but I didnt mc until 10 weeks with misoprostol.  My body wouldn't nmc, that should have been a sign to me it would be a long road ahead. I haven't been temping & still am waiting on AF so I have no idea if I have ovulated again. Although a couple weeks ago I felt like I may have O'ed, we are TTA obviously.  I will keep you in mind for pm if I have further questions, thanks.  (Congrats to you by the way! )

I'm sorry for your loss and your slow-dropping betas. I know how frustrating it can be and how it makes it really hard to try to start healing when you are stuck in that limbo. Mine took 11 weeks to drop from 220 to 0. I remember that every week I would be so hopeful and would feel like I had just been kicked back down when the results would come back. Hang in there!! I'll be thinking of you!

Mine took 11 weeks to get below 5. I passed a little bit of tissue after maybe 6 weeks and I thought for sure that that must have been why it was so slow and that it would drop right off after that, but it just continued to drop really slowly. Hang in there, I know how much the waiting and blood draws suck. (((HUGS)))

I did not have specific numbers but I know I started up over 100,000 before my first D&C and it took over 5 weeks until I didn't turn a test positive. Don't hesitate to call your doctor and have them check for retained tissue. Have you had any bleeding lately?

@kate6214 I have had absolutely no bleeding since 3 weeks after my mc started. I am headed in tomorrow for another draw, I will see what comes of that one.

No bleeding is a good sign. It can just take a while. I hope that number comes back low.
