XP: Soft cervix early on?

Have any of you been told your cervix is soft early in the pregnancy? I went in for an appt today due to a small amount of spotting and passing a small clot over the weekend and my OB said my cervix is closed, but soft. (Spotting/clot most likely due to a lot of coughing.) He didn't seem worried and said they would be keeping a close watch on me anyway due to it being a twin pregnancy. I'm just curious if you had/have a soft cervix what the outcome was.

AMH .97 as of 4/2012! ~ AMH 1.63 as of 4/2013!?!
Him: 29 ~ perfect swimmers
Laparotomy w/partial oophorectomy 8/2009 to remove cysts/endo.
Stopped BCP 4/2010.
Multiple clomid rounds from 11/2010 to 6/2011. ~ All BFN
IUI w/clomid 7/2011. IUI w/clomid & injectables 11/2011 & 1/2012. ~ All BFN
IVF:EPP 5/2012 ~ (4R, 3M, 2F w/ICSI). Both embryos txfrd. ~ BFN
BCP to manage endo from 10/2012 to 12/2012.
FET w/donor embryos #1: 10/2013 Cancelled
FET w/donor embryos #1.2: 11/2013 ~ ET of 2 beautiful blasts on 11/27.
Beta 1: 503(12dp5dt) Beta 2: 1035(14dpt) Beta 3: 3001(16dpt) Beta 4: 8503(19dpt)

    Hmm...not sure because the cervix is usually soft during pregnancy. Did they measure how long it is?

    Everything I've read said the cervix should be firm until your body begins prepping for labor. I'll go back in 2 weeks and they'll measure it then.

    I just googled this and it brought me to your post - last week my doc basically said the same thing.  I'm much farther along with these twins, was at 28 weeks, but he didn't seem too concerned and said I didn't have any real signs of preterm labor.  Keeping my FX for you - let me know how your measurement goes.  Mine is next week, and although I'm concerned, I'm far enough that it wouldn't be that dangerous if they came in the next couple of weeks, but of course we worry about every little thing, don't we?  Will be praying for you and your LOs.

    Thank you @auntjessy! My next appt is 3/3 and they'll measure my cervix then. I'm trying not to worry, but am ready for that appt!! FX your LOs hang in there for a few more weeks!!

    Yes your cervix is supposed to be hard and closed until nearer to the end. My OB noticed mine was soft at 19w. I was on bedrest from 20w on. Some weeks there was no change, some weeks I had shortening, dilating, funneling and contrax that I couldn't feel. I ended up in L&D 5x before I delivered. I don't mean to scare you because I didn't deliver til 35w and even then I was induced. I think it's great they caught it early. I can't tell how far along you are but I urge you to rest as much as possible. It was obvious when I cheated on my bedrest and once things go downhill they don't reverse course. Meds might be necessary if you have contrax. GL!

    @caden Thanks for the info! I am 15 weeks and I usually take it pretty easy. The only thing I do that I can think of that might be an issue is water aerobics. Based on the findings at my next appt I'll have to ask my OB if it's ok to continue, he originally approved of it.

    Not sure how strenuous the class is but being in water might relieve some pressure on your cervix so it might be a good thing. I'm sure your doc will have better advice than I do though :)
