Another movement question. ..

But..but...I didn't see it asked or answered!

Is the movement in the same place all the time or does it move? What I'm feeling is the same feeling in the same spot whenever I infrequently feel it. I've never felt it anywhere but this spot, 3 inches down to the left of my belly button. In 10 days I've probably felt it 7 or 8 times.

Re: Another movement question. ..

  • I have wondered the same thing myself, so I am interested to see what others say. My doctor told me the baby 'swims around like a fish", so I'm sure you can feel movement all over the place. I don't think I have felt anything yet.

  • Well @jessa8907 in my defense it could be something else even then lol. I have no idea what the heck I'm trying to feel. I just know it's a distinct bubbling or teeny tiny vibrating I've never felt ever before. It's just always in the same spot :-/

  • I definately feel it more in some places than others. It could be that your placenta is making it harder to feel the movement in other places?

  • @eortman I had one u/s at 13 weeks for the NT scan and she didn't mention my placenta. But I think it's possible. But I'm also a FTM and only almost 18 weeks so maybe it's just too soon? I have the a/s on Friday so I'll ask then!

  • 18 weeks is early :) as baby gets bigger you'll feel it in more places, especially once they turn around and wedge their feet in your ribs!!!

I'm 18 weeks today, and mostly the movement is in 1 spot, but sometimes moves to the other side or up a bit

  • At first, movement was exclusively on my left side. My placenta is on the right, so she just wasn't strong enough for me to feel it there yet. Now, I feel her all over but she's also bigger now.

I know everyone is different, but the feeling of her moving was always fairly distinct. There is no way I could mistake it for anything else.

  • I keep thinking these movement threads are bowel related!

Anyway, Im just 18 weeks and don't feel movement regularly, but when I do it's rolls on the right and kicks on the left. My theory is one baby is kicking and the other is trying to get away, but who knows!

Early on, yes, most movement was in the roughly same place - very low and slightly to the left. The movement has gotten significantly stronger and more frequent in just the last week and I am also noticing it vary in location.
  • all of the movement that I have felt has been pretty much exactly as you explained it. It seems to be pretty much in the same place, too. I feel it several times a day. Definitely not gas, but I thought it was strange that it pretty much always feels the same and is in the same place.

  • I'm 19 weeks but have been feeling her move since 16. Given the U/S, I feel her fist just around my belly button and her feet just to the right of my belly. It's quite fun guessing what exactly she's hitting me with. At 16 weeks she felt like popcorn on my lower left for 3 weeks. Now she's kicking and punching quiet a few times during the day :-)
  • I feel better now. Maybe my placenta is in the way on the right side. Hopefully within a couple weeks they'll be more obvious and frequent!

  • Earlier on I primarily felt the baby kick really low on my right side. I still feel the baby kick there a lot, but have been feeling movement all over the part couple of weeks.

  • for the first week of kicks (week 17) they were all exactly where you described, lower left, and felt like a twitch/pop  :)

now they are all over the place, even high up--gotten a few kicks just below my belly button yesterday and today!

  • It starts int he same little place then they can flip and kick more- so it goes to bladder, back, sides, everywhere. This little flutters are so cute. There comes a day when they'll play soccer with your bladder and that doesn't feel as cute.

Nooooo I wouldn't. God I can't wait for the riley thread to go away. I promise if I had linked all her threads in my post you guys would have understood my reaction, and know that it was a very specific situation that provoked me to go off on her. I don't think I've ever, other than that post, flamed someone for asking a question.

  • I'm just 19 weeks and all I've felt is pressure and what feels like light tapping but only once and awhile and it's always the same spot below my belly button. Hopefully this is normal.

I felt a ton of movement from 15-17 weeks and have felt barely anything the last week :( . I'm crossing fingers there's just more room in there now and baby has changed positions and has moved up higher away from where I could feel the movement and position so well way down low. We have our a/s on Tuesday and I can't wait to see baby after not feeling much movement. I still feel something once a day or so but can't lay on my back and feel a ton of movement like I had been able to for a couple weeks. I would say feeling LO in the same spot is perfectly normal. Mine was all in the same exact spots for those two weeks - body laying along the bottom and feet kicking on the left with a few punches on the right. Now though I have no idea where LO is!
  • I'm so jealous of everyone that is feeling movement. I'm 20 weeks and I think I only felt movement twice (about a week and a half apart). Both times were right below my belly button, in the same spot.
  • @pinksundrops, so can relate. I felt a lot of fluttering in week 15 and 16, but for past 4-5 days since reaching 17 weeks I don't feel nearly as much as I used to.. Just hoping there's more room in there and can't feel as much. A/S next Tuesday and so anxious to see LO swimming around. Glad to hear others have similar feeling, thx!
  • When I started feeling movement (around 18 weeks) it was also only in one place at first, about where you described.  It felt like popcorn popping to me (and completely different from any feelings I'd felt from gas so I knew it wasn't gas).  Now at 20 weeks it feels more noticeable as little jabs instead "pops" and I still feel it mostly on the left side but I've also felt it just below my belly button, on the right side, and last night I'm pretty sure she was repeatedly kicking my lady parts.   I didn't specifically feel kicks, but I kept having this feeling down there similar to accidentally banging my funny bone on something.

I still haven't felt any "flutters" or "flopping" or movement that feels like I have a snake or a goldfish in there like some other people have described.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one!! Crossing fingers for amazing a/s appts for both of us! Mine's tomorrow so I'll let you know what the tech says about the movement disappearing. I'm a little less nervous now that I hear someone else is experiencing the same thing.
  • *bumping*

Is feeling jab/kicks outside at 17.5 weeks way too early?

I just felt 5 little jabs right above my belly button. I pressed down and could feel them with my hand on the outside.

It seems so early to feel this, but I can't think of what else would cause that type of movement. I'm a STM...

  • I felt a kick on the outside around 18 weeks!  But mostly she stops moving if I put my hand on my belly because she is stubborn (and/or already has thought about self-preservation techniques ;-))

This morning I think she was doing somersaults in there and I felt my belly basically do the wave.  I can't focus on anything else once I feel her moving either!
