So when you had it put in did you have cramping for most of the day or did it go away shortly after?  I just had my appt. an hour ago and I couldn't believe the cramping and how ill I felt after.  Maybe it brought back the memory of labor pains or something but ugh...I don't feel so well.  I just took an ibuprofen so hopefully that will help.  How can I go through labor again if I am sick from this????

I'm getting a little nervous. I'm getting one "installed" in a few weeks. There have been many posts in the past few days and it seems like everyone is having different side effects- cramping and bleeding. Some bleed and cramp longer than others. It's still scaring me a bit. Does it hurt when they put it in??

I had mine put in at 4 one afternoon.  I was crampy until I went to bed at 9 and I was fine the next morning.  I took 2 advil liquidgels and went to bed.  I did spot for about 2 1/2 weeks but I didn't cramp anymore.

It didn't take too long to put in but she told me there would be cramping and it seemed to last forever...but it wasn't too bad.  I think it just brought back memories of labor before the drugs kicked in.  I am starting to feel slightly better now.

It was bad for about a day and half, I haven't had any issues since.

Insurance cover mine 80% which all in all is less than what I would be spending for the pill over the next two years.

I've had the Mirena done twice (once before DD and then again at 8 weeks pp).  Both times I had extreme cramping the day of and I took Ibuprofen for it.  It's not so bad, and the pain goes away after a day or two.  It's nothing to be afraid of, and IMO is a very practical form of BC for those who don't like pills or condoms.  Everything you're feeling is normal, and you'll be fine.  Hugs until you start feeling better

I had cramps (a little worse than menstrual ones) but I popped 2 extra strength tylenol and I was fine from that point on.

i had paragard put in - the non-hormonal type, similar to mirena - at my 6w pp appointment. ?the cramping was pretty bad for about 6 hours after, and bleeding through a pad every 4-6 hours for the week following (my pp bleeding miracuously stopped after 2 weeks)... but now no problems, and no cramping. ?and increased CM too, which is a + for DH.
