I've always had this whole long speech for what I would say to someone who started bashing NIP. It was nice yet firmly factual, educational with a pinch of snark if need be. Well the big moment came today... And I flopped. Nodded my head smiled and looked away. Why do I have such great words before hand and come up short in the moment?!?! What were your big flops?

We are at a drift event in west fl. I was bf Mackenzie under a cover by the car trailer to be far from the fumes and noise. My husbands friend and his gf came with us. As I'm descreetly feeding the baby she comes over to me and starts talking about how gross bf is and how it should only be done in the hospital and how kids in general are a waste of time( she earlier in our lovely trip told me she was surprised that I kept the baby... Not even going to go there). Anyways, I wanted to start by telling her the benefits of bfing, remind her how natural it is, inform her of my legal right to bf in public covered or not, and depending on her reaction, telling her where she could shove her option and hand her a blanket for her next meal.

I agree with Sleepy. I'm usually pretty passive aggressive but I would have lost my shit if someone said they were grossed out by the way I was feeding my child or surprised I kept it.

Wow, I doubt any educational speech would have been of use on her. I've never had someone say anything to me. I NIP with no cover. I've had some people I've been fairly certain wanted to say something. If I see them starting over I make eye contact and smile. I've seen a couple of awkward diversion so I think my feeling was right in those situations. I've had a few positive comments though! :-D

I would be having a serious talk with your DH about limiting time with his friend when he brings his gf along.  How incredibly rude and ignorant of her.  I don't breastfeed but it annoys me when people give their opinions on something that is clearly not their damn business!
