Trouble TTC

Increase Success Rate

So I woke up this morning to spotting which since it right around that time leads me believe that AF is in fact arriving. That also means that our IUI #2 didn't work and we will be starting cycle 3. My DH & I have been going the route of RE since July 2013 and I don't know why it just occurred to me this morning to look at what the success rates of IUI's are. I was surprised to see that they are so low under 20% but most lower. I then of course started looking to see if there are ways to increase your fertility naturally such as diet, vitamins, exercise, etc.

I know we are all here for the same reason and are still in the midst of our fertility journey but have any of you tried a fertility diet or anything like it and noticed any kind of difference?

Re: Increase Success Rate

  • We are unexplained so anything we do is just a shot in the dark. Anyhow, when we removed wheat from our diets, I noticed a huge increase in EWCM. But, once you have moved onto IF treatments, this doesn't matter nearly as much and also we still aren't knocked up. So there you have it.

  • When we started TTC I cleaned up my diet big time...hoping for that extra edge. I'm still not seeing any changes in my fertility...but I feel better overall: mentally, physically, emotionally...that must count for something :)

In addition to diet changes, I tried acupuncture...it increased my LP by 2 days. I saw this as success since my LP is on the short side. If your insurance covers it, or if you can pay OOP then I'd say it's worth looking into.

    Good Luck :)

  • I take my PNVs and CoQ10 every day... aside from that, I do whatever I need to do to make this bearable. Circle+Bloom helps me to relax. Therapy helps me to find my center too. And, of course, these boards have saved my sanity time & time again!

  • I don't know how I feel about sharing this on this board, as I'm scared others will take it as me trying to say there is a "magic" natural remedy...
Anyway, when I got pregnant after a year of trying, I had taken soy isoflavones at the beginning of my cycle. It's a pretty big coincidence if you ask me. I also mentioned to my re about taking them and she said in her office she has seen a couple women take them and get pregnant. Anecdotally. Also, that month I had huge amounts of ewcm- which I'd never seen before.

After I get my baseline bloods done, I'll be taking it again.
  • @nariaDreaming yes, I should have included that. I do know that the SI are a big no-no for people with thyroid issues of any kind. And there was some discussion (when women took them daily as hormone-replacement-therapy for menopause) that they could increase the likelyhood of estrogen dependent tumors but I think that has long been dispelled, at least to my satisfaction.

Like I said, definitely not for everyone. I conducted my own research for a full two months prior to using them. And I think they at least helped me.
