Stupid IRS (N2IFR)

I was so excited to go get out taxes done today. Last year we didn't get to claim DD as she was born January 4, so I thought sweet the refund this year will be awesome.

F you IRS. We only got back $200 more this year. WTF?

I am to anxious to find out what we're getting back this year.  We will be claiming DS for the first time this year, too.  I am also wondering what kind of impact my leaving my job will have.  Hopefully it will all be good, but last year we got back much less than I had hoped/expected, so I'm trying not to be too excited.

Last year I was disappointed also. I thought the 22k we claimed in medical would have helped. Nope. So this year I thought DD would give us a boost. Nope. I was just hoping for enough to pay for our frozen transfer. Nope. Not even close. Oh well. Maybe next year??

Yea, but if you had 6 kids, and made 4k working at Mcdonalds, put in 0 money, you will be getting back $32,000 this year.

I am a contractor (which typo corrected to amazon tractor, btw) for extra work so I have to pay self employment taxes. We never get a return, but I was hoping we wouldn't have to pay out every penny I put away last year. Unfortunately, it looks like it wasn't worth it to do all that extra work- even with deductions, it looks like I will be paying out over half of the extra money I made. I don't mind doing my part, but DH and I seem to get screwed no matter what we do.

Yeah, I can't wait to see how we get raped next year for clearing out my 401k to finance IVF. And I am really not trying to start a war, so please take this as just me being pissy- it really burns me I can get insurance to cover an abortion to end a baby life but zero help to make one- then I'm going to pay out the nose on taxes too bc it will somehow not qualify to claim even though what I make as a PreK. Teacher (having to get insurance through my husband bc I don't have the hours a week to be provided insurance) in a year of teaching is less than a fifth of what I'm paying to finance IVF. Yes- you read that right, IVF is costing me 5x what I make in a year- 10x when I consider half my pay goes to DD's ELC tuition- good times. But I will still get owned with taxes next year. Womp womp. IF sucks.

@momarazzi007, I share your distain. I remember first hearing about "Total Reproductive Health" coverage for women and then being infuriated that it doesn't mean what it's actually called.  That's the gov't public relations team for you!  They'll put a spin on anything to make it sound good.  I think it should be a crime that insurance can skip out in IF treatments.

You know what else isn't covered (by my insurance, anyway): genetic testing. Both my policy and DHs policy denied us. We are getting DS tested to determine whether we can go forward with even IUI. You'd think that the insurance co. would like us being proactive, you know- trying to make sure we are not going to have another child that requires years of language and social therapy, occupational therapy, and other appointments.. But no...
