  • Ok thanks for the tip. I'll go get one. Any specific brand recommendations?

Like I said in my post above, the BBT from Walmart.

A lot of women on TB (myself included) like the Mabis brand one from Walmart.

Oh...my mil said armpit. So it's fine to use a regular thermometer and take it orally?
You can, but many use a BBT (the Walmart one is $8, pretty much the same price as a standard digital one) that goes out a few extra points for precision. Take an oral or vaginal temp after at least 3hrs uninterrupted sleep and before you get up or do anything else.

  • @sliptak For now, test every few days or every week until you get a positive test or your period. If you get to cycle day 60 without either of those it's time to give your doctor a call.
  • That's what I've been doing...it gets pricey lol! I just hate the waiting. I just want to hurry up and get my period so I can quit hoping for a bfp

  • I also like the Mabis thermometer. It's the most reliable BBT I've used thus far. Good luck!

PP gave you great advice and feedback. Walmart sells HPTs for 88 cents, dollar store also has them. They're less sensitive than FRER but they work fine and cost way less. Make sure you look for pink dye tests over blue dye.

  • Yep. They're the "cassette" ones. Stock up on those and if you end up with a BFP on a cheapie, you can always do a back up test on an FRER if you need to. So long as you're using pink dye you should be good. Also, digital tests are the least sensitive HPT so don't waste your money there when you're testing weekly.

  • Awesome thank you so much! That will really save some money, I had it in my head that the digital ones would be the most sensitive for some reason.

  • Another option if you want to save a bunch of money and use OPKs is buying wondfos from amazon. A ton of ladies on the TTGP board use them. I bought this pack of 100 OPKs and 20 HPTs when I was TTC my daughter. When I got into 2nd tri I gave the leftovers way to a lady on the TTGP board.
