Im pretty much sick of everyone obsessing over Elsa since the movie came out. It's a beautiful name but it's sad that people only realize that after some movie.
My Nieces are Inga and Elsa. Their dad is German and it fits them perfectly. I haven't seen the name ever and now it's blowing up.

Unfortunately that is how pop culture works.

We picked the name Elsa for our currently in utero daughter before I was even pregnant, after one of my spunky Swedish aunts. Now whenever I tell people what baby's name is they are like "Aw, Frozen!" LOL That's fine. (To top it off, her big sister is Annika - "little Anna" after my grandma.)
That said, Elsa is actually a pretty pan-European name. It's more common in Northern Europe, but not unknown in Southern Europe. I googled it with DH's Portuguese last name and got tons of hits.
Re: Frozen!
I'm not a fan of Anna and Olaf, but Kristoff, Hans, and Sven are ok!
Another fan of Elsa!

The rest of them I can take or leave.
