Ok, I came on here to vent ages ago about a friend of my grandmother who made comments about my weight like 7 months after I had Kellen (anyone remember that far back?? LOL) She commented (in front of my coworkers!) that I had "gained some weight" and needed to work out (this was after I had lost all but 5 lbs of my pregnancy weight). Mind you, she's like 80 and definitely overweight herself.
Anyway, she just came into the office again and, as I was walking away to get her check, she commented (again, in front of coworkers) that I was "finally" slimming down. A coworker stood up for me and said I've always looked great, yadda, yadda, yadda and she responded "no, she was heavy for a while there. I am glad she has slimmed down. I think she needs to be slim and I like her better that way." Let me add that I've only lost maybe 5 pounds since she last saw me, so I don't really even know what she's talking about by saying I've slimmed down.
But can you believe that? I know she's old, but holy rudeness!
Has anyone else had any "WTF, people?" moments today???
Re: Seriously??
If I did, I was probably hiding behind someone or wearing a towel...haha. I did wear a bikini on my vaca and all last summer, but I don't think I posted myself in all my glory on FB. LOL. I'm not that confident!
I actually had a WTF moment with my grandma the other day. She asked if she could give Emily some soda. Ummmm....that'd be a no, Grandma. She also let Em just eat straight out of the container of prunes and fed her popcorn. Let me tell you, my kid's innards were clean as a whistle after that.
I did gain close to 45 pounds while pregnant, and then like 5 more in the first week pp (who does that?!?) But I thought it was common knowledge to NEVER comment on a woman's weight after baby unless it is a compliment. Yes, she totally knew I just had a baby. I even told her right after her initial comments that "I DID just have a baby and I HAVE lost 40 pounds in 6 months, but whatever!" And she said she wouldn't believe me. Haha.
And I haven't lost weight in ages. I mean, its always nice to hear you look slim, but she somehow even turned that into some kind of twisted insult! LOL.
And thanks ladies, I didn't write this to complain about my weight or anything (or try and fish for compliments), but I am still just in shock that someone could lack that much tact! Ya'll always make a girl feel better
Careful with that talk around these here parts, Monk!
