A dumb WWYD

Okay, maybe not dumb, but I feel like I already know the answer and I need someone to just tell me to woman up and go.

I've been feeling off today.  LO is kicking and grooving and being his usual energy-filled self, which is great, but on the whole I feel wrong.  I thought maybe it was because I got the nasty stuffiness by stepsons brought over the weekend, but now I'm not so sure.  I've been a little crampy...took a hot shower hoping it would ease it since moving around/lying down has done nothing, but it didn't help.  My CM is a little "water-y" which it was not yesterday or the day before that.

The worrywart FTM in me is screaming at me to go to L&D.  The planner in me is telling me to not freak out and just call my OB's office about it in the morning when they open before I go for my glucose/RH factor tests.  OB's office afterhours phone # connects you to an answering service that only pages the doc if you're in active labor, which as of now I don't think I am, and says for everything else either go to L&D or wait til the next day.

So, basically....WWYD?  Go to L&D tonight or wait til tomorrow?  I know, I know...I'm an idiot.

  • If you are worried go in. I went in Tuesday even though I felt LO moving/grooving and I wasn't worried about him but I was spotting it turned out I had a bacterial infection and I was also having small contractions. It wasn't a big deal but I'm glad I went in.

  • Trust your instincts.  You'd much rather go to L&D and mock yourself for being silly later, than shake it off as nothing and find out tomorrow that you might have been able to do something tonight.

Also, it's silly that your answering service will only page the doctor if you're in active labor.  They should have an on-call at all times to help you through questions like this.  Call the answering service anyway and ask them to page the on-call.

  • My OBs office has all kinds of stupid policies...if they weren't the only one to work with both local hospitals that were accepting new patients without a recommendation from their "network family doctor" at the time, I would have switched eons ago.

I'll probably end up making DH take me in tonight.  I'm going to eat first though....because damn if my dinner doesn't smell really good and they won't let me eat in L&D and by the time I get home it'll be after midnight and then I can't eat cause of glucose test. Boo.

  • If it were me, I would give it some more time. If you start feeling worse, I would call the dr on call and see if he suggests going to L&D.
