8 month sleep regression!?

Anyone else going through this right now? I've been doing some research and it seems there is a lot that can go on from 8-10 months. A big leap at 33.5 weeks, teething, new milestones etc…   Is this what it is? Tell me I'm not alone here.   My DS who was STTN for months now is suddenly fighting naps, taking super short naps, waking multiple times a night…and not going back to sleep for an hour or more.  The usual ways to soothe him for a MOTN wake, which is usually pretty rare,  is not working. I have to nurse him at times when he hasn't nursed for months. But it's the only way to get him to go back to sleep and no doubt because after being awake that long fighting sleep he's probably hungry, or thirsty. He literally nurses right to sleep too which is something we don't do at bedtime or naps either. He's not fully draining the breast either so I don't think it's true hunger. I don't always have the option to send in DH who works shift work. Having to put him to bed an hour early too because he's so cranky due to short naps so a huge sleep deficit is accumulating but he won't' sleep any longer and during the day there is nothing I can do, not even rocking that will get him to nap a little longer. Gone are the days of a 1 or 1.5 hour nap! It's like 25 mins now.  There might be some teething going on too?    Anyone else in this boat? How do we handle these situations without creating a new and bad habit for this age?  I do not know this baby, he's completely not himself!

Re: 8 month sleep regression!?

  • We have been having problems the past few nights. LO has been having 2-3 hr pajama parties. Yes, then its like they are up long enough to realize they are hungry, we feed and sometimes he passes out by end of bottle and other times its as if he doesn't know to fall asleep or party more.
He does have his two top teeth making an appearance, but I tried tylenol last night and that was a fail. Didn't do the trick. He still woke screaming. He did good for three nights this past weekend, but then we have been back at it since Monday night again. He's napping fine, but then the nights he slept good his naps were crap. He's all over the place so I am just going with it and trying to not figure it out. At times, we bring him into our bed and just cosleep. Sometimes it works and others he plays.
His naps have been getting longer since he's been waking at night and he's been sleeping in until 8, but 2-3hrs awake at night, so there is no consistancy happening in this house. Its just phase I keep telling my husband. We refuse to CIO so we are just dealing.

I dont think J has slept since the 3/4 month sleep regression!! Lol
This!  I'm seriously sleep deprived, but I don't think it's gotten worse--just maintained its awfulness since 4 months.

You just described my life. M is 34 weeks today and his two top teeth are working on their entrance. He's also just about crawling, just about to put himself in a sitting position, just about pulling himself up to standing and just about to scoot when he is standing. I think it will be a long month :-/
This is us too.  He can get himself to a sitting position and has pulled up like twice, but still working on crawling.  Sleep sucks right now. :(
