Ira?

What do you think of Ira on a boy that is Asian/White. Mom is Athiest, Dad is eh about religion, definately no Jewish or Hebrew relationship. Would you side eye that or wonder what the hell his parents were thinking. Our last name is very Asian. ODS is Ansan.

Here is a pic of ODS. We think they will probably look the same. Would it be funny if his name was Ira?

I really love Ira!
I don't see a problem with it. I have a few half Asian half white family named Ryan, Casey, Hadley and Audrey. Not overly Asian names IMO.

I just hear a lot of people say it's soooo Jewish, so it doesn't sound right for us. I don't think so but wanted to see what other people think. 

I haven't asked DH if he liked it yet. I wanted to get opinions before bringing it up.

I would be surprised to learn he wasn't Jewish.

The husband half of our best friend couple wanted to name their second son Ira. I was rooting for it for them, but they are Jewish. In the end the wife vetoed it. Boo!

I totally love the name Ira - but DH is not going for it. If yours is, then name that baby Ira!

I actually have no issues with an Asian-looking Ira.  Doesn't strike me as strange at all.

My friends little boy is named Ira after a relative. They're Italian. I don't know what their religion is but I know it's not Jewish.

I would automatically assume an Ira was Jewish and I would be a bit surprised to find out he wasn't. But I would get over that surprise as soon as I met him, if you love the name I don't think a stereotype should stop you from using it.

Thanks everyone. I really like the name but DH said exactly what I expected, that it's too Jewish sounding. Ugh. This baby will never be named.

I was really loving the names Francie & Liesel (two main characters from my favorite books) for our Chinese/White girls. I thought it might be a little strange to have two Chinese girls with Irish and German names, but  I think we still would have used them if we hadn't already had other names picked out.
