I almost died laughing when I saw the Fred Flinstone pic earlier so I thought I would share some pics from work.  Now mind you I mostly work in the office doing spreadsheets and other various things.  My window looks at the Asphalt Plant so this is definitely not my normal view but I do have my own explorer that I can drive around when ever I want.  Today I had to take water samples for DEQ so I actually went down into the quarry. 

 

Question: I think we talked about it a LONG time ago but what does everyone do for a living?  Some of us might need refreshers!

That's a lot of earth! Yabba dabba do!

I guess now is an appropriate time to spill the beans about quitting my job. I love my company, the people & what I do, but after 4 months back I feel so empty. DH and I figured out a way for me to SAH!!!
My last day will be march 14. I'm excited to get to spend my days with lo, and also anxious about the transition.

I stay at home! I have a bachelpr's degree in Psgycology/Human Services and experience working as an event planner/hospitality industry.

ETA- just read this again, I swear I do have an education even though that sentence did nothing to prove it.

I am so excited for you!  I know that you were really struggling when you went back to work.  I am sure it is a little scary when you are used to two incomes (and if I remember yours was a big portion of that), but if being a SAHM is what you truly want than no amount of money is worth that.

I mostly SAH.

I work PT (22 hours one week and 16 the next, changes ever other week) at a small retail business. Boutique kind of thing. I do payroll, inventory, purchasing for the store, customer service. I love it.

I used to manage the place pre-kids. Now they let me hang around and make my own schedule working around DHs crazy work schedule. I love my job and am so grateful for it.

When I go back to working FT I would like to work retail management for larger store. Nordstrom contacted me a long time ago with a management position but I declined because I found out I was pregnant with my first and wanted to scale back my hours to be home with him. Which was hard for me. It was something I really wanted to do. But I wouldn't have been able to give as much attention to a new position with a new baby.

I have my degree in Health administration. I worked for a hospital management before leaving for retail 7 years ago. I was getting too stressed at the hospital.

@petey1106 I think it would be cool to have a job like that, until I had to deal with rude and/or stupid clients.  Then I would probably hate my job.

I work part time, only two hours a day so I like to think I'm a SAHM with a couple hours out. I'm a behavioral therapist for children with autism. I currently have two kids I work with so only one, two hour session a day.

I'm a police officer in a very busy city. Total aw but I was on the news yesterday. They videotaped me outside of a homicide scene.

Before DS, I managed a local coffee shop. But after the three months of maternity leave were up, DH and I decided it is better for me to stay home, so I'm officially a SAHM there are days I missing going to work but I wouldn't trade this time with LO for anything!

I work for a defense contractor- we make things that go boom.

My job title is: "international licensing analyst, sr."... I manage the legal compliance side of our US to/from Mexico business.

I'm an event corridinator for a convention center, arena, and two theatres. It's a fun job, but I'm with @petey1106 the clients aren't always the nicest.

Thanks everyone! I wish our society was more enabling of a parent to SAH if they want to. I definitely feel extremely fortunate that we could figure it out. It's a significant sacrifice to both my career and our financial capabilities, but something we agree is worth it & I think it's right for me. now I just need the next 4 weeks to hurry up!

Some of you have some really interesting sounding jobs!

I'm a SAHM. My coworkers are assholes, have zero respect for keeping a clean work environment and cry on a daily basis. (heehee). I'm also the local cake-bake lady and typically spend a few hours each week baking goodies.

Prior to this I worked for a web design firm that did websites/online booking programs for hotel & property management companies.

My title recently changed to "Chief Business Officer" from "Director of Revenue". Basically, I manage the business side of a large medical practice. I used to just manage the financial department, but now I'm over the whole business office. Sounds like more of a big deal than it is.

I'm an insurance agent. Yeah nobody ever wants to talk to me about my job, unless they need advice on putting a claim in.. I love my office though, were a big family and my boss has always been amazing so ik I could never leave..... Although I would loveeeee to be a SAHM... And someday I plan on opening my own little coffee/ice cream/chocolate cafe

I know how you feel. The last place I worked was the same. And EVERY event was literally the same. I had about 10 different layouts that we would use and that's it..:very boring. At this new job... Name it, and I've probably coordinated it. I just wish I could get paid more for what I do. I saw a survey the other day that showed event coordinators are the 5th most stressful job. I'd say 5th may be high... But I feel we definitely fall somewhere in the top 10 for sure!

I'm a journalist -- on the editorial desk at a statewide news organization. Which is why I don't share a lot of personal info on TB. People get stalker-creepy about news folks, although it's not as bad for us as it is for my friends who work in TV news. I came back to news from advertising a couple of months ago. My new schedule is four 10-12 hour days, which sounds not great except that I bring the baby to work with me on Saturdays, and then I'm home for three days, which I love.

I'd share pictures of me at work, but I'm pretty sure 90% of them were taken because I was covered head to toe in some sort of bodily fluid. And no one wants to see that.

I'm a petroleum land manager. I basically do research for oil and gas companies in the exploration of energy sources. I sub contract out through my company. So, technically I'm self employed.

With the name change and the picture change I was sitting here going who in the world is this person and why is she commenting on our board!!!  LOL. 

When I was little I wanted to be a petroleum engineer because there aren't many women in that field.

Wow, you people have some interesting jobs. I feel kind of boring now! I work weekends and SAH during the week (except at holidays, where I pick up extra hours), so I feel like I get the best of both worlds. I'm a cake decorator. In the past, I've also baked cakes, baked/decorated cookies, made muffins and scones, and mixed, cut, and fried donuts. I did hand-rolled bagels at my last job too, which was pretty fun.

I used to be a scale operator at the quarry before I had DS!  Not quite as many thieves, but still plenty of crack heads.  Our system is very automated and we do not pay them, they pay us, so probably way less face time with the crazies than you got.

Pre kids I was a special ed teacher. I was at the high school when I left, but over the years I've taught at every level, preschool on up!

I now SAH full time and coach swimming part time for 6 months out of the year. For a couple of months I coach swimming for Special Olympics and in the summer I run a summer rec program for the city.

Umm I'm a FT Grad Student (Social Work), 3 days I'm a SAHM, and 2 days I'm an intern on a military base. In Sept that switches to 2 days at home and 3 working but (hopefully) for the VA. I'd die without my 'to do' lists!!

I have a master's I barely use in my job as a program manager for a girl serving organization- that shouldn't leave you guessing too much. ;-)

And... ran my first solo event last night since I came back from leave then spent the rest of the night waking every two hours. I'm not sure how long I can last in this job if I can't get that beautiful restorative sleep.

Before baby I was a stripper 2 days a weeks and hope to get back to working once every week or two once LO is STTN. I also worked at a daycare 3 or 4 times a week but probably won't return since I don't want LO around so many germs if I can help it.
