bedtime and cries

DS has always been a decent sleeper and we have had the same routine for months.  But every night still when I put him in his crib he cries for me for about 5 minutes.  I know it isn't a huge issue I just always feel bad.  Just wondering if anyone else has a LO that does the same thing.  He picks up on so many other things I just wonder why he just doesn't give up on the screaming seeing that nothing has ever changed and I don't get him lol.  I also will have to transition to a toddler bed soon since we will need the crib for baby #2 in May and not sure how we will keep him in his bed.
