Anyone a Dropout Interventionist or Social & Emotional Learning Specialst

I'm currently a high school teacher but looking into applying for the following jobs and was wondering if anyone is in the same field. If so, do you like it? Pros/cons? Money?

Dropout Intervention Specialist - This position is at a new all girls middle school with many at risk kids.

Social and Emotional Learning Specialist - This is part of a parent program where basically, my job would be to educate parents and other caregivers on the importance of education and a child's well being.

  • I have experience in both. It is a very frustrating job and though a difference is made, expectations to save the world are daunting.

  • Oh yes, I agree with y'all completely. As a teacher, I've learned all about appreciating the small victories. I am looking at getting out of the classroom and my strengths have always been more in the areas of counseling and organization. I figured these positions are more up my alley.

The one I want the most is the Dropout Intervention Specialist position. The bad part is that it's a pretty substantial decrease in pay. But happiness matters, right? Ugh..I guess I don't really know. I can afford to take a cut in pay but it's never fun. I'm so miserable with teaching lately though. And it's not because of the kids. I don't want to leave the field altogether and this job sounds like something I would be really good with.
