Final Update on my "3am" post, and XP from PGAL

For those on mobile, I'm 28 weeks, 3 days.

Long story short, (or at least I'll try) After spending the wee hours of the morning with sharp pains in my diaphragm (heartburn, I thought), retching my guts out for about 6 hours (literally-I even have the broken blood vessels in my face to show for it), I finally decided that this was NOT normal and I call my OB's emergency line around 6am. Luckily, my doc was the one on call. He told me I should come in when he got to the office and he would check everything out.

DH was already at work and I still wasn't really panicking, so I called my Mom and luckily she was able to pick me up and drive me. Well, a low grade fever, slightly elevated BP, and borderline tachycardic rhythm will get you sent straight to L&D! I was so glad I had someone with me, because now I was starting to panic.

The hospital is only 10 minutes from the docs office, and by the time we got there they already had orders and a bed waiting so I was admitted right away. They immediately hooked me up to the baby monitor and told me I was having contractions every 2 minutes. Shit! No one seemed overly concerned, they said it was a common effect from dehydration. They started my IV and took some blood and told me to sit tight. I just kept saying, "If something was going to happen, I'm right where I need to be, so let's breathe and try not to worry."  They ordered a biophysical U/S and baby girl scored an 8 out of 8, and fluid levels were good. The doc came in to do an internal, and cervix was still long and closed. And after a liter of fluids and emptying my bladder, contractions slowed WAY down. Around 7pm I was about half done with a second liter, but still contracting slightly. They didn't wan't to send me home until they stopped completely, so they gave me the magnesium shot (I forget the actual name for it). One dose did the trick. I was released around 9:30 last night, and after a good night's sleep I feel so much better.

I'm just so glad that I called when I did and that they were so proactive and caring. So my advice, if it feels wrong, always call! On the plus side, I'm now already registered at L&D! I told the nurses I'd see them soon, but not too soon!
