Re: Random thread- for all things random.

  • Tonight my neighbor is throwing a raging party. We were invited & I'm not feeling it. Being the only PG lady/non drinker sounds lame. If rather stay home, rent a sappy movie and eat pizza.

  • I have been craving sushi all week. I am finally getting it for lunch today! It's literally all I can think about.

Me too!!!! On my way to get some Philly rolls right now. Nom, nom, nom!!!!
Yum! That's what I get too. Except I hate the giant block of cream cheese in it so I substitute cucumber. Kinda takes away the point, but salmon+avocado+ cucumber is sooo good.

  • Holy cow, just did some lurking around the other BMBs and found a post flaming away at an insensitive post.  I wondered how bad it could be...it was bad...very bad.

Wow! I am only on page 3, but she just keeps digging herself in a bigger hole. What a piece of work.
    hi

  • @V1981 not to fuel the shopping frenzy...but if you or anyone else likes leggings go to www.babyleggings.com use the code "5LEG" and you can get 5 pairs for free! They are beyond adorable, you just pay for shipping, but those things are expensive when you pay full price!
  • Serious question. I've never ordered furniture from anywhere but Raymour and Flanigan and they have always delivered my stuff and put it in whatever room I ask. Now this nursery furniture from BRU or even Pottery Barn - is delivered to your house via UPS... so it may sit in your driveway if no one is home, and then you are required to somehow move a 180 lb dresser upstairs? That just sounds like way too much weight to carry up a staircase and around a few corners. Am I totally overestimating the difficulty, or is it completely normal to hire a moving company to help for something like this? I feel really ignorant because I've never dealt without delivery, and I didn't buy any big furniture until after I moved into my house so it wasn't a big deal. I get why they don't do it, just wondering how people normally get around It. DH has already refused to try...

We had dinner with my in-laws tonight and my MIL was telling us about a new girl at their church that's about our age. DH plays guitar and she told him, "I think you would have really liked her! She plays guitar and has hair like Beth's, she's real cute!!" Umm okay, I'll just be over here being your son's wife...I think he already "likes" me. And then my mood was shot for the rest of the evening. Nothing quite like not measuring up to your MIL.

    That is lame *hugs*

Totally normal, we opened up the box downstairs, checked to make sure nothing was broken, then carried it up a few pieces at a time to assemble in the room. Don't try to bring up a 180 lb dresser.

DH owns a moving company, and there are plenty of people who hire them for stuff like this. They even have a toolbox on each truck to take apart and put together furniture while on the job. Just call a couple local movers to get a quote! Totally worth it.

So I think she's totally BSC, but the blood test I think she's talking about isn't a Harmony/MaterniT21, it really is just for sex but she was too psycho to explain herself.
I think she took one test but has since heard of the test "you can take at the doctor's office." I think she is referring to the MaterniT21. My blood is still simmering but was in a raging hard boil while reading that.

  • Thanks guys. The furniture comes assembled so besides taking out the drawers i didnt know how to put it in parts. Im glad to know movers wont think im crazy if i go that way. But pottery barn delivers via UPS... so its shipped based on weight... that shit is crazy. Were dresser shopping today with a wood sample from the crib because im being a bsc pregnant woman demanding matching furniture :-)

I did this with DS. I had a full size bed, dresser and entertainment center that was a set. We chose to leave the dresser and entertainment center in DS's room so I wanted the crib and anything else to match. It was an absolute pain to find everything to match! The crib, changing table, and glider all came from three different places. Although it was a hassle, it was the best thing we could have chosen to do. He has furniture to get him all the way through until he moves out. And the way my changing table is made, it will convert to just a regular dresser when we get ready. It was a great investment! Thanking myself for it now. ;)

Tried to order super awesome PUL to continue building my stash and the company's website had a problem and won't let the order go through.  They're also not open on weekends.  :(:(  I love the patterns, but hate waiting!!

    ----------

What website?? I want to make a bunch of nb fitted but don't feel like taking the time to find a good site. Do they have natural fibers? I guess I could order pul too and make some aio's. Ah love it. I convinced my husband we needed a bunch of fitted diapers for DS because he needs more absorbency.

@pfeilele: The one with the awesome PUL is diapersewingsupplies.com.  They also have natural fabrics.  The other one I was looking at, when I was upset about having to wait an extra day or two (because obviously I'm going to have this baby in the next two weeks) was naturesfabrics.com and they had *some* cute PUL, but not as much.  Their prices were less, and they had a *LOT* more of a selection in the natural fibers.

I love the AiOs for life (I used disposables with DS so like the ease of them being the same thing), and if you get the hemp fleece, please let me know whether the absorbency is really as incredible as they say.  It seems fantastic if you can have an overnight with only 2 layers of the soaker, but it's expensive!!
  • I am feeling so much more excited about having a little boy now that I've finally gotten to go shopping somewhere besides Walmart. That sounds really dumb, but it was nice to find boy clothes that were my style and didn't break the bank. So many adorable tiger onesies!

Yeah sometimes it good to see what the other half deals with :(
  • I really hate this thread. I think it's canabalizing the board and making it really boring.

    I agree.

  • @alyssa719 thanks! I'll have to check those out.

I would have to say that my favorite natural fiber of all time is hemp. It's amazing. I don't know about 2 layers amazing because my kid pees a lake at night, but it's good. Try babykicks - they have nice stuff made from hemp to try. It has good resale if you want to get rid of it too. The cloth diaper swap on fb is awesome as well - that's where I get stuff to try when I don't know if I'll like it. I have a hard time dropping money on fabric that I don't know much about.
  • @pfeilele, I'm not "out" on facebook... and may not be until this baby makes its' grand entrance, so the fb stuff sucks for me.  :(:(  They have like, "hemp heavy fleece" but at $15+/yd. Meh.
  • Weren't we trying to see if it would get to 1000 comments and then if it would keep going?

Gotcha. Well definitely join once LO is here :) if you get half yard of it though, it's gonna make a bunch of inserts. I'll order it and tell you if I like it, but it's gonna have to wait a couple weeks because I just went crazy buying stuff this week ;)
