Is this true?

Is it really stealing company's time if I was using the bathroom a lot because I had diarrhea?

  • I don't know if I would say it's "stealing company time", but if you were that sick then you should have been at home.  You could have gotten someone else sick, and you certainly weren't being productive at work.  I can understand why you were sent home.   As for the rest of your previous post, I have no idea if you have a legitimate claim to unemployment because your hours were cut (I don't know anything about claiming unemployment, so I'm not a good person to give any kind of advice)

  • Speaking as someone with IBD, who is very sympathetic to poop issues.... If you're in the bathroom for 15 minutes an hour, every hour, you should be at home. If your health makes you unable to fulfill your responsibilities, you should be at home. If your bathroom time is reasonable (say, three five minute trips over the course of 8 hours), your boss is out of line.
  • Thank you. That's what I was thinking, but wasn't sure I was right.
Well, yeah I asked to go home and his reply to me was that if I go home my hours will be cut. I am glad he sent me home, I needed to be home. At least it's only about 6-10 more weeks left, thank God.
