Contractions - Lower/Mid Back

I'm 28 weeks and twice recently I have experienced lower back contractions. The second occurrence put me in the ER because it lasted around 30-40 minutes (plus I had no idea what was going on until I was told they were contractions)…the pain was unbearable. I tend to get them late at night before going to bed. I have been using a heating pad which helps a lot; however, I'm trying to figure out ways to be more comfortable while sleeping. Does anyone have suggestions on sleeping positions, pillow usage, etc. for these contractions?

  • Hello I am also 28 weeks along and having the same thing. My mom told me to drink a jug full of water and to lay on my left side as I sip it all down. In that always help me out. I also sleep with a pillow behind me in under my stomach in between my knees to help me sleep

  • Sleeping with a pillow between my legs and one behind my back has helped me a lot.  It's a PIA when I roll over, but is still worth it.  My hips have been hurting for a couple weeks now and my back off and on; both are feeling better.  I learned that using a pillow long enough to go the length of your legs makes a difference too.  I was just using a small square pillow and it didn't help at all.  When I switched to a king size pillow, my hips started feeling better.
