Crafting/baking Fail

Sorry, no pics. It was just an all around clusterfuck.

I have spent the last four hours trying to make heart cookies and icing bottles for DS' vday party tomorrow. The kids were supposed to decorate their own cookies as a snack/craft combo. The dough was weird and wouldn't form well. Then the icing was so thick, that it was basically glue by the time I got it in the bottles. I could barely squeeze any out, let alone a puny little 4/5yo.

After some ragey texts to a friend and a small cry, I decided that I will go to Walmart early tomorrow and buy stuff for build your own pudding cup sundaes. Pudding cups, whipped cream, sprinkles, m&ms, and cherries. Boom! ...right?

Re: Crafting/baking Fail

  • On a positive note...I made a couple of pans of the cookies as regular cookies, not shaped. It was amazing. I will definitely make it again, just not shape it.

  • @cmeon_the_water yes, cut the cookies out. I used a recipe that was specifically for cut-out cookies. I chilled, but it stayed too sticky. I'm not too worried about perfecting it. I'm actually going to use the same recipe in a couple of weeks for a bake sale, just not cutting them out.

I did the milk, powdered sugar, and vanilla icing. It was thin enough when I put it in a bag to pipe into the bottles, but it started to harden so much! It was already like 10:30 at that point and that was when I really gave up. I am mostly ticked about the $25ish I spent on supplies that I threw out.

The kids loved the pudding cups.
