Re: ~~~ Pact Grads Check in ~~~

  • I'm 26.5 weeks. I have that thing where your pelvis separates, so that's really painful. And the heartburn, oh the heartburn! And I guess my honeymoon with food is over. Back to smoothies for breakfast, salads for lunch, cereal for dinner. And yet I'm still gigantic. And getting more so every day. The people at work like to remind me of this daily.

  • @SecretAgentKate I'm so glad I just creeped on this thread! Cutiepies!
  • 8 weeks 2 days.
I'm still feeling barfy and physically tired.

Just found out that Chad has to work Monday, the day we have our first US and billing appointment. I'm super pissed. I didn't know it was a holiday. This appointment has been booked for over a month and a half. He could go in later since its a morning appt, but he would miss out on potential commission. Am I being selfish?

  • Ten weeks and feeling pretty good. I had more good days than bad days this week nausea wise but got hit with a killer head cold. DS got it a couple days ago so we haven't left the house in about a week. I'm going a little stir crazy.

I made my first real appointment with my new midwife for next Saturday. We are toying with the idea of having a home birth this time. I'm really excited to meet with her!

  • 27w3d. I'm freaking EX-HAUST-ED alllll the time. I'm thinking I'm anemic again and need to get an iron supplement to take...guess I will find out on Thursday when I have my glucose test (bleh). My hips also hurt SO bad this time around.

With DD being so young, we really haven't needed or gotten anything for new baby other than a few NB size outfits and I bought a few diapers back in November. I feel kind of bad. :-/

  • 20 weeks this week, so we had our a/s yesterday. Looks like we're team pink this time around! I was actually really hoping for another little boy, but it's been a lot of fun to look at all the ruffles and sparkles that I get to buy for this bean ;)

We sent pink flowers to the grandmothers and aunties (living so far away, we try to keep them "included" as much as possible), so they're all excited too.

Symptom-wise, I've been feeling pretty good. Little Girl is moving more and more, and I've been getting killer headaches. I'm with TJ on killer heartburn, though!!! I've had horrible heartburn from the day we conceived, and it doesn't seem to be letting up at all.

  • @jmejme GL on your gtt! I feel the same way, since it's another girl we don't really need anything. I don't want #2 to get the shaft or feel less important, but we haven't bought hardly anything.
@ellebeedub welcome to team pink! Woohoo! Are you taking anything for the heartburn? I'm on Zantac 150 twice a day, and still taking tums most evenings. It's so hard to even make myself eat, bc the heartburn is so bad.

  • Yeah, I have a prescription for Zantac, but I usually end up popping tums about once a day too.

  • I've been trying really hard not to whine a lot this time around, but I need to vent today. Pregnancy is painful!!! Or at least this one seems to be. The biggest thing that is bothering me a lot these days is the pain in my crotch. It starts aching almost everyday by about 4 or 5pm, but some nights it is so bad it's almost scary. I make it my goal to lay down in bed as soon as I get DS in bed every night, and thankfully that usually helps. (It also usually means I have a disastrous kitchen, but I've let go of that for now.) The headaches this time around have been pretty brutal, too. Thankfully they've been a bit better this week.

@unaveragejane This pg has been much harder on me too. You might have spd. Google it and look at some of the tips. No crossing your legs, no heels, no stairs, keep your knees together, etc. I also find sitting and bouncing in my yoga ball to help a ton. Also pg support belts are supposed to help. I could barely walk last week, and by adding in all those tricks I'm a thousand percent better.
Oh, also cat and cow yoga poses.

Eta: how many weeks are you now?

  • I don't think your babies are getting the shaft because you aren't buying a bunch of stuff for them. Babies don't care. :) I'm looking forward to not buying a ton of stuff for our future babies. That stuff is expensive!

I want to get a better umbrella stroller and buy an ergo. The front packs I have hurt my back and I hate the two strollers we have. One is super short and I have to hunch over to push it and the jogging stroller is huge! We also need a new crib or toddler bed. I haven't decided on that one yet. And of course more cloth diapers!! ;)

  • @TJ1979 - I will look that up! I am just 16 weeks.

@SecretAgentKate - I don't even think this is lightning crotch. Instead of a sharp jab of nerve pain, this starts out with a bruised, swollen feeling. As it progresses, it turns into a poking sensation, like instead of a baby, I'm carrying one of those steamer baskets and someone is trying to force it open. But maybe it is...I don't even know right now.

  • If it feels like you got kicked in the crotch, it's spd.

  • Oh my gosh, yep, it sounds exactly like spd! I wish I had mentioned it at my appt on Monday. I will definitely try the exercises and sitting on my yoga ball. Avoiding lifting is going to be impossible b/c DS's favorite request right now is for me to pick him up. Ugh. And we have stairs. Double ugh. At least the reading was interesting. Wiki suggested that I will need to labor standing up, and they'll need to tie my knees a certain distance apart so that they can't go too wide. Baby Centre said it would be best to sit down to put on my knickers. :p I love British words!

  • I fully agree with sitting down to put on your knickers and also while shaving your legs. Being off center is what really aggravates the situation. When carrying the little guy, try to hold him in your front (I know, hard to maneuver around the belly) rather than on one hip. GL.

  • Lurking in. @unaveragejane maybe a prenatal chiropractor would help? I loved mine! Pregnancy really jacks up the body.

Where do you find one of those? And how do you know if they're reputable? I've always thought about going to a chiropractor, but I don't want someone who will make problems worse. Also, does insurance cover that usually?

Our insurance does cover chiropractic care. Not all does, so that is probably something to check. I live in metro area, and there are only 2-3 licensed in the entire area that can provide care to pregnant women. So YES, you'd want to find someone reputable.

I was lucky that her office was in the same building as my birthing center. And a friend had used her / the same birthing center.

Do you have any birthing centers / natural care type places that could maybe give you a recommendation?
    image
  • If nothing else, maybe you could get a prenatal massage??
    image
  • @YellowLily2013 - It sounds like I have some research to do at nap time tomorrow! Thanks for all the suggestions. I might even call my OB office and see if they can recommend a chiropractor. I don't think we have any birthing centers here.

  • I had my class today, and didn't learn much. I got a bunch of prenatal samples tho.

What's everyone doing with older LOs during their appts? My next one is next week, but I'm not sure how quick t'll be.
  • @NVandGZ - DH comes home a little early to keep DS during my appts. My last one took nearly 2 hours, so I was really glad to not have a restless munchkin on my hands. We will all go together to the anatomy scan appt, but my doc said it was fine with her if DS wants to climb the walls. I guess they're used to it!

  • If they're just checking the heartbeat or whatever I always just take my kids with me. Last time I took two of them. I just make sure to have something entertaining and food. I can tell the office doesn't love it, but I do it anyway

That's thing, they are taking a bunch of blood that day too. I can't remember if they're doing more than that. Otherwise, I would probably just bring him if it were just the hb and stuff.
  • 26 weeks.  Honestly getting up there but feeling like this preg is going to last forever.  Ugh.  I'm super huge already.

I ordered a couple GNHWs on coop but not much else for new fluff.
