Does anyone have any experience with kinship adoption/fostering

A family member is debating an adoption plan and h and I would be adoptive parents. I don't want to steer her one way or another but want to be open to this. Any advice etc would be grand. Fwiw this would involve two separate states. Thanks.

My hubby and I are adopting my sister in laws baby when it is born in August. She approached us at first and talked with us about what she would like. We wanted her to know she would be very involved in his or her rearing. She also wanted to know how we felt. Since it is two separate states, I recommend researching adoption law in both states and consult with a lawyer. Good luck!

I googled an adoption lawyer and contacted her. Depending on your state and how closely you are related will dictate what rules and laws apply. For us family adoption laws did not apply in our case although our adoption was in our family.
