Nap mat or air mattress?

DH's gm passed away today and when we go to his parents' for the services there aren't enough beds. DH and I will likely take an air mattress and have the baby in a pack n play. Is a nap mat padded enough for the 3.5 year old or should I get him a toddler size air mattress? I don't need several nights of shitty sleep with him.

I'm sorry for your loss. I'd probably go with a portable mattress of some type for him since it's going to be several nights.
