ETA- I just realized this won't work cause he wiggles too much and will wake himself up on the sides of it.

I've come to realize that co sleeping is just gonna happen. I spend half the night sitting up with him in my arms and I woke up with him wiggling out of my hold so I want to avoid that if possible.

Anyone have any experience with this thing?

I dunno if he's getting too old for this sort of thing? He is just over 3 months and can roll side to side. Hasnt mastered the fully over thing but that should happen in the next few weeks. I have a king size bed but it has a soft pillow top on it that he kinda just melts into. Looking into getting a firm top to put on it. If that is a thing....

I have an arm's reach cosleeper for home but bought the snuggle nest for travel. I had it with us in a hotel a few weeks ago.  She didn't seem to care for it, she wouldn't stay asleep in it at all.  I also didn't like how she rolled to the edge of it, it didn't seem very safe.  I ended up tossing it to the floor and just sleeping with her in the crook of my arm.

I love the arm's reach though if you have space for it, when she outgrows it I plan on sidecar-ing a crib to our bed.

  • @blathnat we have the arms reach and he already out grew it. He kept wiggling to the top of it and waking himself up. He's a long boy. So we squeezed the PnP next to the bed but he doesnt sleep very well in it. Last night was the best he has done in weeks. He slept from 930-3pm. It was a miracle!!!! I think the problem is the PnP sheets are really thin and hold the cold bc of the plastic mat underneath (even with one of those waterproof crib mats on it). Last night I stretched a cotton blanket (one of those carters ones) across it after I rubbed it on my chest to add my smell. It seemed to help a lot.
  • If you've already outgrown the arms reach, know that the snuggle nest is much smaller.

  • The snuggle nest kept tilting in my bed, I did not like it at all!  I believe the arms reach comes in 2 sizes, small (bassinet) and full size.  You could always side cart the crib if you wanted to cosleep/bedshare.

I have always put my babies in the bed with me (my previous 3 children) but it isn't right for us this time.  We transitioned our daughter to the crib when she hit 3 months.  (We have a 5 inch thick pillow top mattress and bedsharing was just not going to work this time.)

Here is an article about side carting-if you are interested.

Not sure if I've mentioned this to you before, but we have a Graco Travel Lite Crib that's basically a mini PnP. It's maybe 2 feet wide, 2.5 at most. Is that still too big?
no no no no no don't do this! We had that because of limited space but LO HATTTTEEED IT. he will *knock on wood* normally sleep in the PnP but will not under any circumstance tolerate that travel crib. too small. he runs into the sides then scratches them with his nails sounds like nightmare on elm street in our bedroom.

ETA: only said this because you said he is long/wiggles and moves a lot

  • We used one for the first 2.5 months but he is too big for it now that's he's wiggling and rolling. We safely bed share now.

  • Co sleep for the win, especially during the 4 month wake up phase, if you can find a way to do it safely. We have a bed nest thing and LO hates it, only used it twice, that was a waste of $50.

  • We have a full size pnp next to the bed but he just hasn't slept well in it. I think i just happened to switch to the pnp at a bad time (3 month growth spurt) I'm gonna order one of those quilted sheets and see if that does the trick. And he's a squirmer and needs as much space as he can get.
