Natural Birth

hello natural ladies

Just wanted to say hello and reintroduce myself. I was active for a couple of years when I was trying to get pregnant with our first. I had some concerns with my body and cycle and wasn't welcomed very well on another thread today so I thought I would come over if that's ok! I was very fortunate to have had an incredible natural birth with my daughter and have a wealth of info, support, and encouragement. <3 to all you mamas and mamas to be!

  • Welcome! I'm new, too! Looking forward to all that you ladies have to share.
  • I want to have a natural birth, but everyone is discouraging me because I'm a first time mom and I'll be screaming for the epidural, but that's the last thing I want! Help. Any first time moms that did well without epidurals? Any tips?
  • Welcome! This will be my first attempt at a natural birth. Due in three weeks!

My OB actually commented on how well I did without the epidural. My MIL was amazed at how calm and quiet I was, as she was a screamer even with epidurals at each of her births.

What I found helpful was a toolkit of relaxation techniques (meditation and prayer worked for me), childbirth classes (we did Bradley), knowledge about labor and delivery, a wonderful coach, and trust in my provider.

My husband was a little doubtful before our intensive class, but then he learned how that education turned into motivation and determination. You have to train not only your body, but your mind.  Walk confidentially in your last weeks of pregnancy and ignore the nay sayers. I had to do the same thing.  My doctor told me that I had the most peaceful natural birth that she had ever been a part of and she was in her 19th year of practice! My husband was so incredibly proud of me.  My labor and delivery nurse thanked me.  She thanked me for having a birth and enjoying the natural part of life.  She told me that many women are in and out and forget how wonderful this chapter in our life is.  The best part is I can remember every single bit of it! Best experience of my life! You can do this! You can do this because I did, and at any given time there are thousands of women going through the same thing! Sending hugs your way!
