Is this her first word?

DD is 8.5 months old. Until about a few weeks ago, it was babble. She has been saying "dada" but not sure if she knows what that means. Today, she looked at our cat and said "ki-kat" aka kitty cat. She said it once after that, but randomly. Would you consider that her first word? Or should I wait it out and see if she says it again while around or looking at our cat?

Mine says "ki-ka" at the cats (even at my parents house). Or "kee kee". If they look and say the word, then it's technically a word and not babbling/sounding out.
