Carbon Monoxide Question

So I was sitting downstairs and kept hearing a beeping noise every minute or so.  I figured it was either a smoke detector or carbon monoxide detector.  I went upstairs to my master bedroom (where our carbon monoxide detector is) and the noise got louder.  Without kneeling down next to it and waiting to verify, I unplugged it.  The noise stopped so I figured it was the carbon monoxide detector..but then when I plugged it back in, it's not beeping.  So obviously it's not battery powered since it is plugged in..but why wouldn't it make the noise anymore?

I know carbon monoxide is nothing to mess around with.  Anyone else have experience with this?

*Update*
I just pressed the test button, it went off, and now it's going off periodically again.. I just got my neighbor's so I'll see if that goes off and if so, I'll call the gas company I guess..

Re: Carbon Monoxide Question

  • Did you have a recent power outage? It could have required a reset.

    Kid #1 - 09/03/12
    Kid #2 - maybe???
    Diagnosed with Severe Ashermans
Hysteroscopy #10 - scar tissue grew back reblocking my right tube
#11 or IVF with scarring still inside?
1 lone embryo from September 2016 retreival, dx with Trisomy 16, starting fresh
  • Loading the player...
  • All else fails, Google your detector name and beeping problem - see what comes up.

  • CO detectors blare like smoke alarms--my guess is something needs to be changed. A lot of times the plug in kinds have battery back ups, you might need to change the batteries in it.

ours are hardwired to the house but all have battery back ups in case of a power outage.
This is us too... it will still beep if the backup battery needs to be replaced.
  • If it was actually detecting Carbon monoxide I think you would know it. Sounds like it might need a battery change or something.

  • When CO2 detectors go off, they are really loud. We had a scare about a month or so ago with ours. The fire dept came out and everything. They couldn't detect any C02, but told us something funny about an interference between our Comcast Cable remote and the detector. Like as in the remote can accidentally set it off. It's a first alert combo if that helps?
